🌳 Oak trusses taking shape

Our team are currently preparing a series of oak trusses for a new build project in North Norfolk, carefully shaping and preparing the timber ready for installation on site.

The traditional approach to craftsmanship and attention to detail goes into every project we undertake.

Although this is a new build, we’re bringing the same care, quality and traditional building skills that we use across our heritage and conservation projects.

We’re looking forward to seeing these beautiful oak trusses installed and becoming a defining feature of the finished building. 🪵🔨

🎓 Investing in our team and building for the future

We’re excited to have launched our first company-wide NVQ program, with 10 members of our team now working towards construction-based qualifications ranging from Level 3 through to Level 7.

For us, this is about more than gaining a qualification. It’s about recognising the skills, knowledge and experience within our team, while giving our people the opportunity to continue developing and progressing in their careers.

The 10 team members are undertaking a range of different NVQs, but they’re all working towards the same goal — developing their skills, gaining formal recognition for their experience and supporting each other along the way. 🤝

This initiative is a great reflection of our company values: Be Kind, Take Pride and Make Progress.

We’re incredibly proud to be making this investment in our team and look forward to celebrating their achievements as they work towards their qualifications.

Meet the Team – Dan Featherby 👋

We’re delighted to welcome Dan Featherby, our new Project Manager, to the King & Company Norfolk team.

Dan brings more than 20 years’ experience in the construction industry, having started his career in carpentry and joinery before progressing into project management.

His combination of practical experience, technical knowledge and project management expertise is a fantastic addition to our growing team.

Dan is currently working on our King’s Lynn Custom House project, and we’re looking forward to seeing his experience and knowledge put to work across our projects.

Featured in Conservation & Heritage Journal 🏛️

We’re delighted to see our upcoming work at King’s Lynn Custom House featured in the latest issue of Conservation & Heritage Journal.

As a Norfolk-based contractor specialising in the conservation and restoration of historic buildings, we’re incredibly proud to be playing a part in the next chapter of this remarkable Grade I-listed building.

The 17th-century Custom House is one of King’s Lynn’s most recognisable landmarks, and over the coming year our team will be carrying out sensitive conservation and restoration works to help protect its historic fabric and secure its future.

It’s fantastic to see the project recognised within the conservation and heritage sector, and we’re looking forward to sharing more of the work as the project progresses.

Progress on site 🏗️

Work is well underway, with the focus so far on preparing and protecting the building for the specialist restoration work ahead.

Scaffolding is progressing and the temporary roof is beginning to enclose the building. Inside, extensive protection has been installed to safeguard the historic features.

There is plenty happening behind the scenes as we prepare this important building for the next stage of its restoration.

We’ll be sharing more progress as the project develops!

It’s a great example of how carefully considered contemporary materials can sit alongside traditional architecture, creating a home that respects its past while looking firmly to the future.
