🔨 patio rescue completed in Richmond this week! 🔨

We were called in to sort out a patio that had been very badly installed only a couple of years ago.

Because of the gradient of the garden, the patio needed to be raised. A proper retaining wall should have been installed across the full width, but instead a sleeper planter had been put in, filled with topsoil and rubble, with no proper stone base or compaction underneath.

Over time, this caused the patio to start sliding away. 😬

We’ve gone in and completely stripped it back:

✅ Removed the old sleeper planter
✅ Removed all the topsoil and rubble
✅ Built a strong retaining wall across the full width
✅ Rebuilt the base using Type 1 stone and compacted it properly
✅ Lifted and relaid some of the patio flags
✅ Removed all the old grout
✅ Repointed the whole patio with fresh grout

A lot of extra work compared to getting it right the first time, but the patio is now properly supported, solid and built to last. 💪

A job brought back up to the standard it should have been in the first place.

🚗 BLOCK PAVED DRIVEWAY EXTENSION COMPLETE 🚗

Another job completed today, and what a difference it’s made! 👌

With three cars at the property, the little patch of grass was pretty pointless and wasn’t really being used. So we decided to put the space to much better use and turn it into an additional parking area. 🚙

We ripped out all the existing grass and soil, installed around 6 tonnes of MOT Type 1, fully prepared the area and finished it off with some smart brindle block paving to tie everything together. 👌

Once the driveway extension was finished, we moved on to the little path down the side of the house, giving that a freshen up too and making sure everything matched in nicely. 🔨

It’s been a pleasure getting this one done for Vicky & Grant, who are also returning customers — it’s always great to have customers come back to us for more work! 🙌

Another practical improvement that not only looks great but gives the property that extra bit of much-needed parking space. 🚗

✨ JOB COMPLETE | CARLTON-IN-COVERDALE ✨

What a transformation this one has been! 👌

When we first arrived, this garden was in need of a full revamp — a large soil area in the corner, sunken patio slabs and a very uneven lawn.

We’ve completely stripped it back and started fresh, installing around 45m² of Raj Green Indian Sandstone 🪨

The job also included:

🔨 New patio/shed base in the corner
🪜 6 new steps to help with the levels
🪨 Raj Green edging running down the side
🌱 Fresh topsoil to level out the lawn area
🧱 Traditional pointing throughout

And what a difference it’s made! 😍

This one has definitely been a challenge at times, especially getting all the levels right, but the end result makes it 100% worth it! 💪

A massive thank you to Louise & Jo for trusting us with the job and for being great customers throughout.

Buzzing to have this one 99% complete for Zac & Beth! Just waiting on a couple more split-face cladding tiles to be delivered and we’ll be finished.

This transformation has completely changed the space! 👌

✅ 600x600 Porcelain Paving Throughout
✅ Mid Grey Grout
✅ Porcelain Coping Stones
✅ Grey Split Face Cladding
✅ Porcelain Steps
✅ Finished with Anthracite Gravel

It’s been a pleasure working for Zac & Beth. They’ve looked after us every day with plenty of refreshments, that never goes unnoticed – it’s massively appreciated! 👏 especially with how hot it’s been ☀️

Thanks again for choosing GH Groundwork’s & Landscaping. We can’t wait to show you the finished result once those last few tiles are on! 💪

🔥 Transformation Tuesday 🔥

Delighted to get this one over the line for Racheal and Evan.

When we first arrived, this garden was nothing short of a hazard left behind by the previous owners. There was no safe space for the kids to play and nowhere to sit back and enjoy the sunshine.

So we stripped everything back to the bare bones and started from scratch.

✅ 22m² of Kandla Grey Indian Sandstone
✅ Charcoal edging throughout
✅ 30m² of fresh turf
✅ Grey gravel pathway leading to a bespoke rounded fire pit area

The result? A clean, modern garden with plenty of space to relax, entertain, and let the kids play safely all summer long.

A complete transformation we’re proud of.
