Meet the Director – Judy Kennar 🔧

Last week we introduced you to the man at the top… now it’s time to meet the woman who makes sure everything actually gets done! 😉

Judy has been part of the Heatshine family for nearly 19 years, and over that time she’s become a pretty essential part of how the business runs.

From quoting jobs and dealing with customers, to organising projects and overseeing installations, Judy is involved in just about every stage of the process. She’s the person making sure everything is where it needs to be, everyone knows what they’re doing and, most importantly, that things keep moving.

There’s rarely a quiet day, but Judy has a knack for keeping all the plates spinning — even when there are plenty of them!

At home, Judy is a mum to two boys, but after 19 years at Heatshine, she’s picked up another little challenge… 16 more to keep an eye on at work! Between answering questions, keeping everyone organised and making sure the team stays on track, she’s definitely earned the title.

And when she’s not keeping the team in line, you might find Judy out on the open road riding her motorcycle — definitely one way to escape the chaos for a while! 🏍️

After nearly two decades with Heatshine, Judy is a huge part of the business and everything we do. We’re very lucky to have her at the heart of the team. ❤️

Meet the Managing Director – Martyn O’Connor 🔧

With over 50 years in the plumbing and heating industry, Martyn has built up a level of knowledge and experience that’s hard to match.

From installing solar thermal systems back in the 1970s and underfloor heating in the 80s, to working with ground source heat pumps in the early 2000s, he’s always been ahead of the game when it comes to heating technology and energy efficiency.

That experience has also been at the heart of building Heatshine into the company it is today. Starting from the ground up, Martyn has grown the business around quality workmanship, technical knowledge and keeping up with the latest developments in the industry. In 2004, Heatshine was one of the first companies to install a fully integrated system combining a ground source heat pump, MVHR, solar thermal and underfloor heating — bringing together several technologies that were well ahead of their time.

His expertise hasn’t gone unnoticed either. The Tivyside once dubbed him the “Hottest Plumber in Town” — and with his knowledge of all things plumbing and heating, we’d say the title still stands! 🔥

In 2010, Martyn’s commitment to energy efficiency was recognised when he won the Environment Award from Worcester Bosch. The award recognised his enthusiasm for environmental technology and the quality of his workmanship — a fitting acknowledgement of someone who had been championing more efficient heating solutions for many years.

There’s very little Martyn hasn’t come across over the years, and his experience is something the whole team can draw on.

And when he’s not talking heating, there’s a good chance he’s talking cars and motorsport! 🏎️

We’re incredibly lucky to have Martyn’s experience, knowledge and passion within the business — and very grateful for everything he brings to Heatshine. ❤️

🔧 Welcoming the next generation to Heatshine Ltd! 🔥

We’re very pleased to introduce two new apprentices to the Heatshine team! 👋

As a local plumbing and heating company, we believe it’s important to do our bit to help young people get into the industry, learn valuable skills and build a career in the trades.

Taking on apprentices is something we’re proud to do. With the help and support of Cyfle, we’re able to take on apprentices and give young people the opportunity to gain hands-on experience, learn from experienced engineers and develop the knowledge and confidence they need to succeed in the industry.

There’s plenty for our two new apprentices to learn — from the technical side of plumbing and heating to the all-important skills of turning up on time, keeping the van tidy and where the left handed screwdrivers are kept…😉🔧

We’re looking forward to supporting them throughout their apprenticeships and watching them develop into skilled members of the Heatshine team.

Welcome to the team, lads — we’re glad to have you on board! 👏
