Waning Kingdoms
My first completed painting of 2026, and my first ever attempt at painting a medieval castle. Loosely inspired by Castell Coch in Wales, especially its cylindrical towers, this piece became my own imagined version of an old kingdom, still standing, but softened by time, and memory. It is outside my usual subject matter, which made the process challenging in the best way. From the architecture to the atmosphere, this painting pushed me somewhere new.
2026 has started slowly in the studio, but I am happy it begins here.
