⚡️ Throwback Thursday ⚡️

Today we’re taking a trip down memory lane to June 2021, when we officially launched StarkEV and celebrated our move into our new office premises.

It was a fantastic evening spent with colleagues, customers, suppliers, friends and family as we marked an exciting new chapter for the business and our expansion into the EV charging sector.

A lot has changed since then. We’ve completed countless EV charging installations, worked with an incredible range of customers, and continued to grow and evolve as a company. While we’ve since moved on from those offices, we’re proud to look back at the event that marked the beginning of the StarkEV journey.

Thank you to everyone who has supported us along the way, we couldn’t have done it without you.

🚣‍♀️ They’re Off! 🌊

Today marks the start of an incredible challenge as Lara Vafiadis and the Brain Waves Expedition crew set sail from Exmouth, Australia, on their epic 5,500-mile row to Mombasa on Kenya’s Swahili Coast.

Having previously completed a remarkable 3,000-mile solo row across the Atlantic Ocean, Lara is no stranger to pushing the boundaries of human endurance. We were proud to support her Atlantic crossing in 2022 and are delighted to see her embarking on another extraordinary adventure.

The Brain Waves Expedition is making history as the first mixed crew to attempt this continent-to-continent crossing of the Indian Ocean. In addition, Lara Vafiadis and Susannah Cass are set to become the first women to row continent-to-continent across the Indian Ocean, a truly remarkable achievement if successful.

Over the coming months, the crew will face the physical and mental challenges of life at sea whilst raising awareness and funds for two fantastic causes: Race Against Dementia and Rock to Recovery.

Everyone at StarkEV would like to wish Lara and the entire Brain Waves Expedition team fair winds, safe seas and every success on the journey ahead.

🌟 We’re proud to celebrate a fantastic achievement by our Director, Lisa Starkey, who has been recognised with a Star Award from Make Strides Leadership Network. 🌟

The award was presented in recognition of Lisa’s contribution to discussions around inclusivity and support for neurodivergent employees in both the workplace and training environments. Drawing on her experience in leadership, coaching and ADHD-informed support, Lisa provided valuable insights, practical tools and feedback to help shape more inclusive training delivery and workplace practices.

Back in 2022, StarkEV was proud to sponsor adventurer Lara Vafiadis on her incredible 3,000-mile solo row across the Atlantic Ocean. Before setting off on her remarkable journey, Lara even paid us a visit in Halesowen, giving us the chance to hear first-hand about the challenge ahead.

Fast forward to today, and Lara is preparing for her next extraordinary adventure as part of the Brain Waves Expedition. Alongside three fellow crew members, she will row approximately 5,500 miles from Exmouth, Australia, to Mombasa on Kenya’s Swahili Coast, raising vital funds and awareness for Race Against Dementia and Rock to Recovery.

The team is setting off for Australia today as they begin preparations for this epic challenge, and we’ll be following their journey with great interest.

Absolutely incredible effort from Samuel Attwell, who has just run the length of Ireland in support of Molly Ollys.

Our own Stuart flew over to Ireland on Friday night to join Samuel and run alongside him for moral support. Over the weekend he clocked up an amazing 42.37km on Saturday, followed by another 24km on Sunday morning, before flying back home that evening.

Two serious efforts, all to support a truly special cause that helps children and families going through unimaginably tough times.

Huge congratulations to our Director, Stuart Starkey, on two incredible personal achievements! 👏

This weekend, Stuart successfully completed The Lap of Lake Windermere. An ultramarathon covering approximately 47 miles around England’s largest lake. An amazing physical and mental challenge, and a huge achievement to tick off the list. 🏃‍♂️

As if that wasn’t enough, Stuart has also qualified for the HYROX World Championships in Stockholm next month, where he’ll be competing in the Pro Men’s Doubles category alongside athletes from around the world. 🌍💪

At Starkey Electrical and StarkEV, we believe dedication, discipline and determination matter both inside and outside of work, and it’s fantastic to see achievements like this recognised.
