You just can't get better weather for exteriors. Although a few degrees cooler would be nice!!! 😎

I managed to get this exterior done this week.

Lots and lots of prep and a few joinery repairs but it's come up nice and smart. I'm annoyed I never took some before photos!!

All the woodwork was stripped, Primed with aluminium wood primer. Then Tikkurila UK oil based Otex adhesion primer
For the top coats I used Albany MasterDec Premium Opaque Satin finish. Very durable and highly flexible finish. And Sprayed Beautifully.

The 3 colours used were Black, White and Farrow and Ball Whirlybird






Things are coming together. Plenty of prep, traditional techniques and a modern finish. They have come up like new!? 😍 ...

I have started a 1930s house in Kendal. Poor old property was looking a bit worse for wear!!!

Lots and lots of prep to get all the original woodwork up to scratch. Unfortunately I forgot to take some ' Before' pictures.

But it's still very much work in progress!!!!

All the wood is the original pitch pine and once stripped revealed the way things were done 95 years ago. They used Aluminium wood primer. Which I'm all for. All my exteriors are primed in this product. It stands the test of time. Excellent on resinous woods as it seals from bleed and has fantastic adhesion.

I managed to complete this lovely Victorian cottage today. the Weather has been rubbish the last week or so and has hindered progress.

All the woodwork was thoroughly prepared. Most stripped back to bare wood. Then primed with an aluminium wood primer. Sprayed with Tikkurila UK Oil otex then spray finished with Albany MasterDec Premium Opaque Satin.
I have been very impressed with this Product. It has a lovely sheen level and is very durable.

Also whilst stripping back the layers over the years. I had found the original way the ironwork was painted. Black with Gold finials. So I could not resist giving it a bit of 'curb appeal'

Thanks to MJ Joinery for the window repairs. Makes a big difference when repairs are done properly!?

A lot of preparation has gone into this exterior and it has come up very Smart!!

Preparation is Key. Get the fundamentals right and the rest is easy!

Having started an old Victorian cottage recently. I have been amazed how very little due care and attention some others put into their trade..Most of this job had never seen sandpaper or even a relevant primer. Just straight on with a 'self priming system'.

These paints are fine if the foundations are done correctly. Not wanting to have any issues I have thoroughly sanded and stripped wood work where deemed appropriate. To get a good sound base.

Now one of the most important parts... Primers!

Not acrylic fast drying 'gungefuduck' as a dear old customer used to call them. Which were evedent all over this job!

A proper oil based primer for the suitable substrate.

Another day or so of prep and filling and the "Easy' Part can start!

With a more settled day I finally started the 2nd exterior of the year.

I hope 'El Nono' will give all us decorators a dry summer!!

Lots of prep and a load more prep to do. But it will be worth it.

Primed up for the weekend.

A large ensuite bedroom completed today.

All done in Tikkurila UK products colour matched to Farrow and Ball Strong white.

Due to the shape of the room it was decided to 'colour drench'. The customer wanted a nice l bright colour to make the room feel light and airy. Yet not to feel cold against the grey floor and vanity unit.

Strong white worked well!



It's been a cracking few weeks for exteriors. Hold out another few days. Please!!!! 🙏☀️☀️

A nice Georgian reception room/lounge I got finished off tonight.

Just waiting to hang the shutters that I had sent up to Kevin Parks French Polishers to spray and match the Newly Decorated wood work.

All woodwork and the ceiling was done in F and B Strong White. All matched to Tikkurila UK Nova 2 for the ceiling and all Everal Aqua 10 for the woodwork.

The walls were finished in Tikkurila UK Vinyl Matt.
Colour matched to F and B India Yellow.
