Yellow is the colour...
Another spec job from a lovely customer in Bath. He got in touch with a rough idea of function and cost but left me to come up with ideas on materials and design.
Something I'm particularly happy with here is that we eventually settled on using recycled materials (Plywood hoardings recovered from the construction site of the coincidentally).
Some jobs can't be done to a high enough standard without using fresh milled lumber, but I must admit I feel slightly uncomfortable with this.
Nature has a wonderful way of capturing Carbon and turning it into this wonderful material, which despite hundreds of years of human ingenuity, we've yet to match in terms of function and form. Once it's been used, in this case as plywood, it is often sent to a "recycling" centre, where it will be either chipped and turned into chipboard (generating a bunch of fresh carbon as it does so) or worse still landfilled or burned for energy generation (and despite carbon capture tech, it's far from a clean process).
Anything we can do to reduce and/or reuse before we "recycle" is a step in the right direction, and so I'm delighted when a customer is willing to come along in this way of thinking. If I can make what you want, without the need of another dead tree, let's do that.
