Quite often, we attend sites where a sewage treatment plant has been emptied in full, rather than just the designated desludging chamber.

Completely emptying a treatment plant can disrupt the biological process and remove the beneficial bacteria needed to effectively treat the effluent.

So, we’ve come up with a simple solution! 👏

We’ve created clear stickers to place directly onto sewage treatment plants, highlighting the correct desludging chamber for suction tanker operators.

A small addition, but one that can help ensure the plant is emptied correctly, protect the treatment process and prevent unnecessary issues for the customer.

It’s not about pointing fingers it’s about working together, sharing knowledge and helping everyone get it right. 💙

Our team have just completed a lovely installation of a Tricel sewage treatment plant and a new drainage field under EA permit in Somerset.

After a percolation test was carried out we then applied to the Environment Agency for a bespoke permit for the new discharge and was sucessful with our application.

A very difficult site with minimal space was not to challenging for our team and the installation was completed with a lovely review from our customer to finish off nicely.

In the drainage industry, reputation is everything and ours is something we’ve worked incredibly hard to build.

We know our industry doesn’t always have the best image. Unfortunately, there are still stories of unnecessary work, inflated quotes and customers being left unsure about who they can trust.

We want to change that.

At West Country Drainage Services, we’ve built our business around doing things properly: giving honest advice, recommending work only when it’s genuinely needed, and treating every customer and property with respect.

The vendor is getting two more quotes that are coming in can you please quote?

Yes of course but looking at the report the drainage field has failed. Quick land check reveals high ground water 🚩

Another check revealed flood zone 3 therefore a drainage field cannot be installed. So how are the others quoting for a new one??

Flood zone 3 is high probability of flooding therefore normal drainage fields are not suitable for this application.

The purchase could have gone through with a few thousand knocked off the house price with an estimate for a drainage field when in reality this is going to be a whole different project with a carefully designed new system in it’s entirety.

My advice and time for checking was free of charge but I am safe in the knowledge the purchaser has more knowledge to move forward.

Whether the vendor goes with the other quotes for a drainage field that would be incorrect is entirely up to them but having a failed Drainage field already I would imagine it’s for this very reason.
