A recent garden gate build with one very important job — helping make the garden puppy-proof 🐶

The customer is getting a new puppy (quite possibly the cutest puppy we’ve ever seen!) and wanted to make sure the back garden was secure.

They’re also looking to move away from the existing featheredge fencing, so we decided on a board-on-board style. It gives a smart finish, plenty of strength and good privacy and security.

We removed the old gate and built a new timber gate to suit the space, and we’ll be back in the coming weeks to replace the adjoining fence and build two more gates.

A great little project, with more to come.

A good garden clearance job completed recently 🌿

The nettles at the front of the property had grown into a bit of a forest, so we cleared everything back and got the area under control again.

At the rear of the garden, the customer also wanted an area cleared to make space for a new tree, which we’ll be back to plant in the coming weeks.

A big improvement already, with more to come.

Nice little hedge job completed in Ilfracombe 🌿

This privet had gone a little bit crazy, so it was given a good cut back and tidy-up to get it back into shape.

A much neater finish and a big improvement to the garden.

A big one for us last week and exactly the sort of patio restoration we love getting stuck into. 👌

We were called out to look at this lovely 63m² Indian sandstone patio in Lankey where, unfortunately, the pointing had failed yet again.

And when we say again… this was going to be the third time it had been repointed since the patio was laid in 2018! 😬

The original installation had been pointed using a ready mixed brush in compound. It was then repointed around a year later with sand and cement, but that had also completely given up. In places, the old pointing was so loose you could practically blow it out of the joints.

So this time, the focus was on doing the preparation properly.

We lifted and re-bedded the loose slabs, then scraped, ground and cut out the failed pointing, removing as much of the old brush-in material as we could find.

Once everything was properly prepared, we mixed and applied a two-part resin jointing system throughout the patio.

To finish the restoration, the sandstone was sealed, helping protect the surface and really bringing those natural colours back to life. ✨

63m² of Indian sandstone restored and looking like the patio it deserves to be again.

Not our usual bag, but we’re always happy to help! 🪜🌿

We noticed while working at a customer’s property a while back that, when it was raining (if anyone remembers what that is!), their gutters were overflowing and leaking in a few places.

They got back in touch and asked if we could clear them out for them.

No fancy gutter vacs or specialist gear on this one just a ladder, hand tools and a bit of determination. We got them cleared out and flowing properly again. 👍

Sometimes it’s just about getting stuck in and getting the job done.

Another hedge tidy-up completed in Ilfracombe 🌿✂️

The front of this property had become quite overgrown, with the hedges starting to push out into the path.

We cut everything back, reshaped the hedges and tidied the area up, leaving the front of the property looking much smarter and the path clear again.

This privet hedge wasn’t going down without a fight.

One side was nice and straightforward. The other dropped away down a set of steps, so it was time to get the ladders and long-reach hedge trimmer out.

A tidy finish, all the clippings cleared away, and another happy customer.

A recent job involved cutting back several climbing plants that had become overgrown, with some covering a window and climbing all the way up to the balcony above.

Once everything had been cut back, we repaired a leaning trellis to make it secure again. We also spotted a blocked drain on the property, so we cleared that before finishing up.

It’s often the little maintenance jobs that help prevent bigger problems later on.

Got our toes wet with this one! 💦

The client wanted the area behind their fence cleared of w**ds. It was all within their boundary, but the only way to reach it was by working from the stream.

Safe to say the wellies earned their keep… neither me nor the apprentice minded though!

Once that was cleared, we moved into the back garden to shape a few trees before finishing the day by concreting in a new washing line base.

It’s jobs like these that remind you no two days are ever the same. Whether it’s working from a stream, up a ladder or knee-deep in a flower bed, we’re always happy to get stuck in.
