Away from competitions, hedges are very different. Overgrown and rotten in the middle. 2-3 hours work to create a length of hedge once again. Without intervention this section of hedge would soon disappear. Remember hedge rejuvenation is for the next generation.

A great day at the 100th Cheshire Ploughing and Hedge Cutting match. A few action shots of me at work and one of the judges having a very close inspection of my craftsmanship. Always great to leave with a trophy, this one for best hedge layer in Cheshire in the Open class.

A step up in class at the Burton Hedge Match on Saturday. A great day in the sunshine and it was everything I hoped for....

A step up in class at the Burton Hedge Match on Saturday. A great day in the sunshine and it was everything I hoped for. I learnt so much from cutting next to Malcolm Johnson (8 time National Champ). An exciting few weeks ahead with more comps for me to keep learning.

A refreshing change from planting. 100m of new hedging that is now stock proof for the summer. Approx 200 plastic guards...

A refreshing change from planting. 100m of new hedging that is now stock proof for the summer. Approx 200 plastic guards ready for landfill as unable to recycle them. Remember to invest in the plant not the plastic.
