🏗️ Making More of the Space

Another site visit ticked off ✅

This time we were out measuring up a new warehouse ahead of plans for a new mezzanine floor.

Mezzanine floors are a great way to make better use of existing warehouse space, adding valuable extra floor area without increasing the building’s footprint.

The first step is getting accurate measurements of the existing space so we can start pulling together the drawings and work out how the new mezzanine will fit within the building.

Measurements taken and back to the drawings we go! 📐🐒

Looks Like We’ve Got a New Team Member 🐶📐

Ralph has clearly decided that sitting on the sidelines isn’t for him anymore… he wants in on the CAD Monke workload. 😂

Today’s job? Checking over the drawings and making sure everything gets his paw of approval before it heads out the door. 🐾

He may be slightly lacking in CAD experience, but what he lacks in qualifications, he definitely makes up for in enthusiasm.

🙈 Yes… We Know the Plugs Are Upside Down!

Before anyone spots them and wonders whether the Monkes have completely lost the plot… yes, we know the sockets are upside down! 😂

Apparently, in Ben’s mind, it’s a genius way of helping to hide the wires and keep things looking tidier. Admittedly, this photo isn’t doing much to prove his point… but there is a method to the madness. Honest! 🙈🔌

Meanwhile, the Monkes are hard at work again, this time getting stuck into a set of Building Regulations drawings. 🐒📐

Once the planning and design side is sorted, Building Regs drawings take things to the next level — adding the technical construction details needed to show how the project will actually be built, from foundations and floor build-ups to insulation, structure, roof details and more.

Plenty of details, plenty of notes… and apparently some questionable socket orientations keeping things interesting! 😂

Charlie’s on site checking the steelwork against the technical drawings, reviewing the details and making sure everything is clear before the project moves forward.

🛠️ FROM DRAWING TO FABRICATION

Not every project is a full extension or renovation — sometimes it’s the smaller details that need just as much precision.

We were recently asked to produce detailed drawings for a set of bespoke handrails, making sure every component could be manufactured accurately and fit together exactly as intended.

By having everything properly drawn up beforehand, our client can send the designs straight for laser cutting, with each part produced to the correct size and shape. Once on site, the components can then be assembled almost like Meccano, helping make installation quicker, simpler and more accurate.

A great example of how detailed CAD drawings can take an idea from concept through to manufacture and installation. 📐

🏡 PLANNING APPROVED ✅

Another successful planning approval for CAD Monke! 🎉

We recently worked with the homeowners of this Keighley property to design a side extension, helping them create valuable additional space while keeping the proposed design in keeping with the existing home.

From the initial survey through to preparing and submitting the planning drawings, we managed the process — and we’re pleased to say planning permission has now been approved! 🙌

We’ve recently completed a lease plan for one of our clients, providing a clear and accurate drawing of the property and its boundaries to support their lease documentation.
