Today we enjoyed walks in the rain to fill buckets with autumn treasures! Firstly our older friends went out on the hunt for leaves, conkers and all things autumn and then our younger friends enjoyed finding more and jumping in puddles! We were also excited to find mushrooms! We are going to use our treasures in different ways this week!

We also had fun continuing our speech and language game from last week, guessing the animals noises, we made it trickier with a crocodile and a killer whale!

New pen day! Suitable from 12 months, comfy grip and ultra washable, pen on hand test was successful!

We have our pens freely accessible to encourage mark making from an early age, with a range of plain paper, cardboard, colouring pages, notebooks etc to choose from! Its hard to get the right ones but these Bic comfort jumbo pens from Hope Education, so far seem to tick all the boxes!

The bonus of these pens is they have clear lids so no mixing up the colours!

We had a lovely walk around Hillier Gardens today, we loved spotting all the different colours, noticing the different textures and shapes of the plants and leaves and especially enjoyed the music, running around and throwing leaves!

Before we went out we had another game of guess the animal sound and all listened so carefully!

Today we had lots of fun running around the woods with Nelly! We found lots of chestnuts, their cases were spiky on the outside, soft and silky on the inside and the chestnuts were hard, smooth and shiny!

We found lots of dens and added some more sticks to one of them, climbed over tree trunks, across a bridge, and saw a huge tree had fallen down and could see the roots!

This morning we also enjoyed guessing which animal matched to the sound!

Yesterday we had fun at the farm! We fed the pigs, stroked the sheep and watched the chickens scratching about! At home ...

Yesterday we had fun at the farm! We fed the pigs, stroked the sheep and watched the chickens scratching about!

At home we enjoyed reading books, building with the magnets, trying to guess the animals noises as part of our speech and language game! One of us surprised Kelly by knowing the sound was a moose!

Today we had a walk to the shops, we enjoyed babychinos and went shopping at Hylands to buy some vegetables for a harvest themed tuff tray, thank you for our yummy bananas!

When we got back we helped make the tray and then explored the different vegetables, their size weight, how they felt and smelt! We rolled them down the gutters, peeled the skin of the onion and chopped some carrots and parsnips!

We played our speech and language game, guessing the animals from the sound being played!

On Friday we went on an autumn walk and asked to go to the park again so that's what we did! Having fun running around and making sycamore helicopters, we explored reflections and built together, threw socks into the basket, read books and lots of playing together!

On Tuesday we asked for a stay at home day, we had lots of fun playing with the Duplo, finding out family photos and talking about everyone in the pictures, playing cafes, reading autumn poems, scissor practice and making up a story about a squirrel!

Today we had a lovely walk around the fields, we were excited to go and see the horses!

This morning we also enjoyed making up a story as part of our speech and language games, it was all about Patrick the worm living in a magic garden! It was very exciting to see him come to life by putting our ideas into chat gpt! We then all played our younger friends game and used the stepping stones and hoops to pretend to jump in puddles but we could only jump when Kelly said go;

We've had fun with water, balls and magic painting outside and at the end of the day were very excited to spot Biscuit come out!

At morning snack time as well our choosing our books whilst we wait we also talk about the day, weather and the season. Today we remembered that we know it's autumn because the leaves change colour and fall off the trees and we see squirrels collecting nuts to hide ready for winter!
