Here’s a little tour around my pergola garden

This is the north facing part of my garden - that gets the evening sun. It’s full of plenty of different planters; from old water tanks to baskets & buckets. I also have my chaos garden here (pics and videos from July).

Growing up the pergola we have:
A Virginia creeper
2 different varieties of clematis but both are summer flowering (compared to my Montana)
& a Jasmine ‘clotted cream’

I harvested more of my potatoes & this is what happened…

My first harvest didn’t quite go to plan, given the fact I’m growing them in bags, it’s been far too hot, dry & tbh I probably harvested them too early. But this time, the plant was completely crispy, so I thought let’s try again!

What do you think? The shape is a little… weird. But it’s much more successful than last week’s. But maybe I should have left them for longer, as they’re still quite small. I just don’t know 🤣🤣🤣

Seed potatoes bought from: (obviously I’ve forgotten what variety they are🫣🙈)

I have one big pot left - which is still going strong so I’ll give it a few weeks before we do the final harvest. Should I bother with Christmas potatoes? Is it really worth the effort 🤣🤣 we’ll see.

Dried zinnia update 🌸

Last week I decided I’d give drying zinnia flowers a go after hearing they dry quite well. So I got myself some chicken wire and popped each stem through the wire and left them in Ben’s shed to dry. And after a few days, they’re already crisp and most of them have kept their colour too 🥹. So overalll… for a first attempt, I’m happy!

What do you think? I’m going to try some more too! If anyone has any tips to make them dry even better let me know.

I turned an old bathtub into a planter for our patio.

Here’s an update on my bathtub planter full of zinnia & strawflowers. I’m so happy with how it looks & the plants are thriving in there. Zinnia are definitely a contender for my new favourite cut flower.

I got this bathtub at last year.

Is there a better feeling than eating a homegrown tomato? Cutting your own garden grown flowers or logging off from work calls to potter in the garden? I don’t think so.

These are some of things that keep me going, bring me joy & slow me down. What are some things you love about your garden?

It’s ‘s favourite day of the week… tomato Tuesday 🍅 so I thought I’d share a haul from the weekend of all my many tomatoes. (I have too many!!)

I’m growing:

🍅 ‘Tumbling Toms’ bought as plugs from
(Becuase my seedlings failed 🤣)

🍅 ‘Meltaway’ by (kindly gifted as a plant)

At this rate I really need to make some chutney or sauce or something as I’m picking this many every day.

Here’s how I made this dream-catcher garden mobile with dried flowers 💫🌸

I loveee a crafty project so when I was going through all my dried flowers on Friday I was inspired to make something straight away.

To make one you will need 👇
- A willow wreath base (or if you don’t have one you could use a wired coat hanger stretched into a circle or even a piece of driftwood & not make it circular)
- cotton & a needle (or fishing wire!)
- scissors
- strawflowers (or your dried flowers of choice)

I think the design could be slightly perfected but I love it so much. If you’re gonna give it a go, be careful with the needle & the flowers!

Here’s an update on my dried flowers.

This year I’ve grown lots of flowers specifically for drying to do crafts with (as I love crafting) so I’ve been drying a mix of strawflowers, lavender, statice, fennel & nigella in Ben’s shed. I am loving it so far & already writing a list of more plants to grow next year to dry. But this is how everything’s looking. I got a fun idea of something to make, so I’ll share a tutorial soon.

What are your favourite flowers for drying so I can add more to my list for next year.
