Our Founder & Director has recently completed specialist training with GroundsFest Academy covering the planning, establishment and long-term management of wildflower areas.

The training explored far more than simply how to establish a wildflower meadow. It covered the ecology behind successful schemes, how to assess their condition, identify indicator species, understand what may be causing a scheme to underperform and determine the management required to improve it over time.

For us, that matters.

At Taylor Wimpey Woven Oaks, our team recently completed this show home landscaping scheme opposite the sales arena, creating a welcoming first impression for prospective buyers.

The design combines circular feature beds and carefully selected planting to deliver colour, texture and seasonal interest throughout the year. Every detail was considered to ensure the scheme not only looks impressive on handover but continues to thrive as the development matures, with each plant chosen to provide lasting visual interest and seasonal variation across the beds.

This month, we’re recognising two members of the PGE Landscaping team for the contribution they’ve been making out on site.

Terry has been recognised for his hard work at Woven Oaks, where he’s done a fantastic job with the Sales Street scene presentation. His high standards and attention to detail have earned some great feedback from the site management team.

Terry is also always willing to help others, communicates well with both our team and the client, and consistently brings a positive attitude to the job. A thoroughly deserved award.

We’re also recognising Theo for his continued hard work and the way he’s stepped up over recent months.

Whatever the job throws at him, Theo turns up, gets stuck in and gets the job done. More recently, he’s started taking the lead on site and has taken to the additional responsibility brilliantly.

His work ethic, attitude and willingness to step up are exactly what we want to recognise through these awards.

WHEN A LANDSCAPE FAILS, IT’S MORE THAN AN AESTHETIC PROBLEM.

At Stanton Harcourt, an established public open space had suffered extensive wildflower and tree failure, leaving residents unhappy and the developer needing a rapid response.

PGE was brought in to recover the landscape and help rebuild confidence in the space.

Our team transformed 6,500m² of failed landscape, re-cultivating the area, laying new turf and replacing failed trees. When drought conditions put establishment at risk, we adapted the programme with intensive watering, tree water bags and targeted recovery.

The result was a fully functional public open space – followed by ongoing grounds maintenance to protect the investment and its long-term quality.

For developers, landscape remediation isn't simply about making an area green again. It's about responding quickly, resolving problems and delivering an outdoor environment that residents can enjoy and have confidence in.

Landscape Health & Asset Protection: Ash Dieback

Ash dieback is creating a growing management and safety challenge across housing developments, commercial estates and managed outdoor spaces.

The fungal disease causes progressive decline in ash trees and, in severely affected trees, can leave branches and timber increasingly brittle and at risk of failure.
What should you look out for?

• Thinning foliage and crown dieback
• Dead or dying branches
• Early wilting or leaf loss
• Dark lesions on branches or stems
• Increasing deadwood within the canopy
• Fungal decay around the base of the tree

The risk becomes particularly important where affected trees are close to roads, footpaths, buildings, car parks and public spaces.

However, felling isn't always the first answer.

Symptoms can have other causes, and where it is safe to do so, retaining healthy or tolerant ash trees has ecological and landscape benefits. A professional inspection can determine whether monitoring, remedial tree works or removal is the appropriate response.

Don't wait until a declining tree becomes an emergency.

Taking shape at Barby Fields

A great finish to the open space in front of the sales arena at Taylor Wimpey’s Barkby Fields development.

Fresh turf, planting and landscaping are helping turn what was recently a working area of site into an attractive, welcoming space for prospective homeowners visiting the development.

Sales arenas are often a customer’s first impression of a new development, so getting the external environment right is an important part of creating that experience.

A big thank you to Alex, Graham and Hugo for the work they’ve put in to get this area looking so good.
