A client reached out for help when a skip lorry knocked her driveway pier which made securing her gate impossible. We managed to take down and reuse the bricks in order to keep it affordable. We ensured the pier was strengthened as the client wanted heavier gates fitted.
First picture shows before the work was carried out, followed by the completed work and a glowing review!

We may have been a bit quiet on here lately… but that’s only because we’ve been really busy on site!

From brick walls and extensions to garden walls, foundations and garden paths, we’ve been keeping ourselves busy with some great projects.

If you’re thinking about a project and would like a free, no-obligation quote, or even just a chat to talk things through, feel free to get in touch.

We’re always happy to help.

Yesterday we were kept busy extending this patio for a lovely customer who wanted to make better use of their garden space.

We didn’t install the original patio, but we were more than happy to add on to it and give the area a fresh, functional upgrade. Now they’ve got extra space to relax, entertain, and enjoy the summer.
Happy?

Last year, we had the pleasure of laying a patio for a customer, and we must’ve done something right, because they asked us back! This time, to build a custom pergola on the patio.

While bricks and blocks are our bread and butter, we’re always happy to take on quality timber work like this too. Whether it’s patios, garden features, or bespoke builds we have you covered.

Something a bit different from us today!
Not bricks, but balance.

We tackled a floor that was 30mm out of level from one end of the room to the other. After careful prep and priming, we poured self-levelling compound (SLC), the result? A perfectly smooth, level surface ready for whatever comes next.

It's not just what you see above the surface that matters it’s what’s beneath that makes it solid.

On Saturday, we completed this set of bespoke steps, designed to provide easy access from the customer’s back door, exactly to their specifications.
Sunday was all about balance, we took a well earned day off to spend quality time with our families and enjoy some fresh air in the beautiful Cotswolds.

Now we’re back, refreshed and ready for the week ahead.

This week has been non-stop for us – and we’re always so grateful for that! Alongside being out on jobs, we’ve also visited five potential customers to provide quotes. It’s the part of the job people don’t always see – the hours spent behind the scenes discussing project options, measuring up, and then heading home to crunch numbers and work out fair, detailed quotes.

We’ll be honest – sitting down to write up quotes isn’t our favourite part of the job! But it’s such an important one, and we always make sure to give each one the time and thought it deserves. Some of the quotes this weekend have been particularly challenging, especially one that involved providing several different options but we love a challenge, and we’re proud of the transparency and effort we put into every job.

We always encourage people to get at least two quotes so you can compare fairly and we’re confident in the value we offer, not just in our workmanship but in our clear, honest pricing.

Thanks again to everyone who has reached out this week, we’re spending our Sunday evening finalising everything, ready for a fresh start tomorrow!

Feeling very lucky to be this busy, thank you for keeping us going.

This week at DC Brickwork, we’ve been hard at work on a refurbishment project where we initially set out to knock down 3 internal walls. As the job progressed, the customer decided to open up the space even more—so down came a few extra walls!

To ensure structural integrity, we installed a robust RSJ beam to support the roof. As always, we took care to keep the site clean and safe, using water suppression during the initial cuts to keep dust to a minimum.

Check out the photos to see the transformation in progress.

This heat has definitely kept us on our toes this week! ☀️

We’ve been busy building a garden wall for a lovely customer, and they requested weather struck pointing—something we haven’t done in over 10 years!

For those who aren’t familiar, weather struck pointing is a traditional technique where the mortar is angled to slope downwards, helping rainwater run off and protecting the wall from the elements. It also gives a clean, sharp look that really shows off the quality of the brickwork.

It was a great chance to revisit some classic techniques, and we really enjoyed putting our old skills back into action.

It’s been a busy week for the DC Brickwork team!

This week we’ve:

⭐️ Built 2 single garages
⭐️ Completed a brickwork repair
⭐️ Insulated a floor for an ongoing extension project
⭐️ Started a new garden wall (more to come once materials arrive!)
⭐️ Finished an extension on another garden wall
⭐️ Made a larger opening of a doorway as part of an ongoing extension

We’ve also got a packed schedule ahead with visits and quotes already lined up — and tomorrow we’ll be catching up on sending quotes out.

A huge thank you to all our clients for keeping us so busy — we truly appreciate every job and recommendation.

At DC Brickwork, no job is too big or too small!
While we love getting stuck into big projects, we also take great pride in the smaller jobs that make a big difference.

We recently attended a property where a leaking gutter had caused significant brick damage. We carefully removed and replaced all the damaged bricks, raked out, and repointed the affected area — leaving it looking good as new.

This was a small job we were able to slot in quickly, and the results speak for themselves!

Need something similar sorted? Get in touch — we’re happy to help.
