A slow moving May Bug, also known as a Cockchafer, prevalent in May and usually only coming out after sunset but this little chap kindly moved out of our way as we were planting in Sevenoaks. The UK'S largest scarab beetle and completely harmless if a little clumsy. Fascinating and utterly adorable 🙂

I remember when the soil was turned over at Lullingstone Castle's World Garden, where we did the engineering layout, seeds that hadn't been seen for over 50 years suddenly resurfaced and flowered for the first time in over a half century. These poppies never seem to leave, their seeds laying dormant for so long and then suddenly, boom, they're back! Love them. ..
