We were called to a leaking hot water supply feeding a basin in a nursing home, with no local isolation point available.

Shutting down the hot water to the building wasn’t exactly an ideal option in a live care environment.

This is where the Aladdin Isolator earns its place in the van. 🔧

The valve is designed to be fitted onto a live pipe, allowing us to create a local isolation point without interrupting the hot water supply to the rest of the home.

Heat pump servicing isn’t just about cleaning filters and checking temperatures. 🔧⚡

On this Mitsubishi Ecodan I was checking the inverter operation and confirming the compressor was responding correctly to demand.

The inverter controls the speed of the compressor by varying the electrical frequency. Rather than simply running flat out and switching on and off, the heat pump can increase or reduce its output to match what the property actually needs.

That matters because correct inverter operation helps with:

✅ Efficiency
✅ Lower running costs
✅ Stable system temperatures
✅ Reduced compressor stress
✅ Reliable long-term operation

A heat pump can still appear to be “working” while not performing properly. Proper servicing is about checking how the system is actually operating, not just whether it turns on.
