A little more involved than just laying a few tiles! 🔨

Another job completed, this time replacing the existing vinyl flooring with a completely new tiled floor through the hallway and adjoining areas.

The job involved removing the old vinyl flooring, taking out the existing toilet, preparing the floor and then setting out and laying the new large-format tiles throughout.

There were plenty of details to work around too — doorways, different rooms and that curved bottom stair, where the tiles had to be carefully cut to fit neatly around it.

Once the tiling and grouting were complete, I installed the new toilet and fitted the new toilet furniture to finish the job.

It’s jobs like this that show there’s often a lot more involved than simply putting tiles on the floor.

Another floor finished 👌

Stone-effect porcelain tiles laid in a staggered pattern, giving this room a warm, natural look while still having all the practicality and durability of porcelain.

As always, careful setting out makes all the difference — getting the layout, joints and cuts right before you start is what gives you a clean finished floor.

Another project completed.

This living room had a rough tamped screed, so before a single tile could be laid, the entire floor was prepared and levelled using a latex self-levelling compound to create the perfect base.

Once cured, I installed these large-format porcelain tiles, taking time to ensure the layout was balanced, the joints remained consistent, and the finished floor was flat and precise.

The preparation is often the part customers never see, but it’s what makes the finished result last for years.

This patterned porcelain floor was all about accuracy. With a repeating geometric design like this, every tile has to line up perfectly. A few millimetres out at the start can leave the whole floor looking wrong.

Taking the time to get the layout right makes all the difference.
