Quick question... 🤓

If you had to guess, roughly how much do you think a typical UK household might pay to have solar panels installed without a battery?

A) £5,000-£7,000
B) £8,000-£10,000
C) £11,000-£13,000
D) £14,000+

No Googling! 😉

We're not looking for exact quotes - every home and installation is different. We're just curious to know what people think solar costs.

Pop A, B, C or D in the comments 👇

We'll share what the latest UK figures tell us later this week, as well as some of the things that can make the cost higher or lower.

Follow Battle Solar Town so you don't miss the answer. ☀️

(Reminder, we do not sell solar panels 😊)

☀️ A little bit of good news from this week...

Figures from the National Energy System Operator (NESO) show that solar generated a record 14.4% of Great Britain's electricity in July - the highest monthly share ever recorded.

Commenting on the milestone, Chris Hewett, Chief Executive of Solar Energy UK, said:
"As solar and wind power become more commonplace... it is inevitable that further records will be set."

We thought this was an interesting milestone to share because it shows how Britain's energy mix is continuing to evolve, with more households generating some of their own electricity.

Have you noticed more solar panels appearing around Battle over the last few years?

You can read more in this week's Guardian article:

For transparency: Solar Energy UK is the UK's trade association for the solar and battery industry. While they don't sell solar panels directly, they represent businesses working in the sector and support the growth of solar in the UK.

A couple of weeks ago, we asked a simple question:

"What are your thoughts on solar?"

The response was brilliant - thank you!

Some of you shared your experiences, some had questions, and others told us solar simply wasn't on your radar... yet 😉

It reminded us that every home has a different story and people have fair questions.

So next week, we're launching the Battle Solar Town Community Survey to help us better understand what local people think, what support would be useful, and where we should focus our efforts.

Keep an eye on our page next week, we would love as many people as possible to take part.

Follow Battle Solar Town to keep up to date with results and answers to your questions.

Thank you to everyone who came to our recent Open Solar Home event. You asked lots of great questions, and there was a great discussion about the pros and cons of batteries.

Battle resident Sue shared her experiences of living with solar panels, while experts Chris from Energise Sussex Coast and Nicola from Complete Solar Renewables were there to answer your
technical questions.

We hope you enjoyed it as much as we did. We're already looking forward to the next Open Solar Home event.
