Whilst you sit there in your sun lounger looking at the last bit of summer in the garden

There’s something I want you to think about today

And it’s probably going to make you roll your eyes at me

So let’s get on with it, shall we?

It’s time to start preparing your house for the cold

So your next move is scheduling in this

When to:

Shut off the indoor valve for your outdoor tap

Why am I asking you to do this?

It will prevent the chance of water inside the pipes freezing, expanding and then bursting

Because why risk hefty water damage this winter?

To be fair, with the hosepipe ban on, you could get on with this now

Rather than planning ahead

Go on.. treat yourself

Save yourself calling us in the cold to come out and fix the burst!

There were 2 camps last night

You’re either a raging eclipse fan, you had an eclipse party and eclipse glasses

Or you carried on your evening on the sofa watching the One Show

I personally thought the One Show was very entertaining last night

Haha!

And don’t get me wrong, it’s not because I didn’t care about the eclipse

I just had better things to do, the eclipse wasn’t a priority for me

And I know you do the same with your little plumbing jobs

You know what you should probably do about them

But there’s more important things to focus your energy on

And your money

And whilst missing the eclipse won’t impact my future

Leaving your dripping tap that turns into a raging leak in a years time

Will impact yours

There was a social experiment done on the human population decades ago

You might have heard about it

It was testing the “herd mentality” theory

Which basically meant in a big crowd of people, most humans will follow the crowd

Even if it’s not the “right” thing to do

For example a participant was standing on a train and an old lady fell over

If nobody else went over to help, then neither did they

And the opposite also happened, if a train load of people went to help, then so did the participant

Now I’m not here to judge what you do on a train if an old lady falls over

But I am here to judge your boiler service behaviour

Once a year you need to get it serviced

To keep it within the manufacturers warranty

So.. do you remember when you last got yours checked?

“They turned up when they said they would”

Which sounds like it should be the bare minimum... but judging by the conversations we’ve had with homeowners lately, it isn’t always

We’ve lost count of the number of people who’ve told us stories about waiting in all day for a tradesman who never arrived, chasing quotes that never came, or simply being left wondering what was going on

Being a good plumber isn’t just about fitting bathrooms, fixing leaks or installing radiators

It’s about communication

It’s about reliability

It’s about treating people’s homes and time with respect

If we say we’ll be there, we’ll be there

If we’re running late, we’ll let you know

If we’ve promised to call, we’ll call

Because trust isn’t built by doing one big thing brilliantly

It’s built by doing lots of little things consistently well

And judging by this customer’s kind words, we’re doing something right ❤️

I’m not going to name any names in this story

But have you ever ignored your satnav because you knew of a better route

And then ended up exactly where it told you not to go?

Nooo my mum would never do this

Not on a day of the week that ends in R at least

My sister and I deffo didn’t spend many more hours in the car as kids because she knew better than the satnav 😳

Some people just need to think they know better

But I tell you who does know better

Homeowners

The current popular trend is to bin the bath in the main bathroom and swap it out for a walk in shower

But this customer knew the family still needed a bath

So a bath we replaced, and upgraded the rest of the room whilst we were at it

One of my favourite things in my job is every customers unique requests

Grandkids was their reason
