⚡ DON’T ASSUME. VERIFY. PROTECT.

Whether you’ve bought, sold, rented or inherited a property, it’s important to know what condition the electrical installation is actually in.

A fresh coat of paint or a tidy-looking room doesn’t tell you what’s happening behind the sockets, switches or consumer unit.

Here are 3 important steps:

🔎 1. INSPECT
If the condition or history of the installation is uncertain, consider arranging an EICR.

🛠️ 2. REMEDY
Prioritise any defects based on their severity and get clear written quotations for remedial work.

📋 3. RECORD
Keep certificates, reports and invoices so you have a clear record of what has actually been inspected and completed.

Buying or moving into a property? Don't leave the electrical safety to assumption.

Need an EICR or a second opinion? Wire Wright Electrical Services can help.

⚡ THE REAL COST OF CUTTING CORNERS

When it comes to electrical work, choosing the cheapest option can sometimes end up costing far more in the long run.

Poor or incomplete electrical work can lead to:

⚠️ Electric shock – Damaged insulation, exposed conductors and poor connections can increase the risk.

🔥 Fire hazards – Loose or damaged connections can overheat under load.

💷 Expensive remedial work – Hidden defects can mean paying twice: once for the original work and again to put it right.

✅ Peace of mind – Proper inspection, testing and certification gives you evidence of what has actually been checked.

A proper rewire isn't simply an expense — it's an investment in safety, compliance and peace of mind.

If you're concerned about existing electrical work or considering a rewire, get professional advice before problems become expensive.

Outdoor Electrical Safety ⚡

Outdoor sockets need to be built to handle the elements. 🌧️

Standard indoor sockets aren’t designed for rain, damp or changing temperatures. For safer outdoor power, look for IP66-rated sockets, sealed covers and a qualified electrician.

Whether you need an outdoor socket for the garden, patio, garage or garden equipment, make sure it’s installed correctly and built to last.

⚡ HOW TO CHECK THE WORK WAS DONE PROPERLY

A neat-looking electrical installation doesn’t automatically mean the work has been tested or completed correctly.

If you’ve recently had electrical work carried out, here are 5 simple checks you can make:

1️⃣ Ask for the certificate – Make sure the appropriate electrical certificate has been supplied.

2️⃣ Check the test results – The certificate should include test results relevant to the work carried out.

3️⃣ Verify the details – Check the address, installer details, date and scope of work match what you paid for.

4️⃣ Consider an independent EICR – If you have doubts, an independent inspection can identify defects that may not be obvious.

5️⃣ Keep the paperwork – Store certificates, invoices, test results and photographs with your property records.

🚨 No paperwork? Pause before you assume the job is complete.

If you’re unsure about electrical work carried out at your property, Wire Wright Electrical Services can help.

⚡ CHECK BEFORE YOU HIRE

Before you trust someone with the electrical work in your home or business, make sure they can back up what they say.

A professional electrician should be able to provide evidence of:

✅ Scheme membership where applicable
✅ Current public liability insurance
✅ Appropriate qualifications and competence
✅ Clear written quotes, scope of work and certification arrangements

The installation shown in this post is a real example of what can happen when the right checks aren’t made.

Don’t just take their word for it. Get the proof. Get it in writing. Get it right.

Choosing the right electrician could save you thousands — and, more importantly, help protect your property and your safety.

Have you ever been in a situation where you've contacted a trades person and they don't show up? Or they give you a verbal quote and you're not entirely sure what exactly its for?

We've been there! Just this week we had a nightmare of a time with a roofer (I wont name names) who forgot they were scheduled to come fix our roof, told us they would be there at dinner time, eventually turned up at 4pm, did half a job and left and charged us full price!

Sound familiar?

After this experience myself and Ben sat down and decided that's exactly how we DON'T want to operate. We want to set clear expectations from the start. So by removing the guess work we hopefully reduce some of the stress for our clients that comes with having to hire a trades person.

Now I'm not saying we are never going to be late, we are only human and life happens. Jobs run over, traffic builds up and sometimes a day just doesn't go your way but you can be rest assured we will clearly communicate any unplanned changes to a pre - agreed timeline and work with you to rearrange for a time that doesn't completely disrupt your life.

If this sounds like the kind of team you would like to work with for those few electrical jobs you've been putting off at the thought of hiring an electrician, give us a call, text or email and we would be happy to help.

⚡ WHEN A “REWIRE” ISN’T A REWIRE

A client recently contacted us after paying for what they believed was a complete rewire of their property.

Something didn’t feel right.

Despite paying for the work, they had not received the expected electrical certification, leaving them questioning whether the work had actually been completed properly and most importantly whether the installation was safe.

We carried out an independent inspection and found a number of concerns, including:

🔸 Damaged cable insulation
🔸 Poor cable containment
🔸 Exposed live parts within the consumer unit
🔸 Loose and vulnerable wiring

This is exactly why certification, inspection and testing matter.

A property can look like it has been rewired, but without the appropriate paperwork and testing, you may not know what work has actually been carried out or what condition the installation is really in.

If you’ve paid for electrical work and haven’t received the relevant certification, don’t simply assume everything is OK.

Get the facts. Protect your property. Protect your people.

Our new website has finally gone live!!

It's taken us a little longer than anticipated to get this website up and running but I'm so happy to announce it's finally live!

Our aim for this website is a place to show case some of our works and as time goes on we will be updating the photos to more recent works (it's time Ben started putting his newfound photography skills to use!)

We have also spent alot of time discussing our customers journey and how many people prefer to just pick up the phone and call while others prefer to send a message, so we've included an option to just press a button to call us or text us on WhatsApp or there's a lovely new contact form where you can tell us exactly what you're looking for, how you wish to be contacted and can upload pictures and this goes straight to our email for us to pick up as soon as possible!

So if you're thinking of having any electrical work done in your property it's never been easier to contact us.

The link can be found in our bio or in the comments below this post ♥️

Thank you to everyone for all the support so far.
