At Simon Kaufman Architects, we took great pride in our collaboration with Providence Developments as we embarked on a transformative journey to enhance Hill Road Studios in Westminster. This luxury bespoke home underwent a contemporary and minimalist-style makeover, and were excited to be a part of this creative process.

Our on-site involvement encompassed the development of technical details, utilising high-end bespoke fittings and finishes to ensure the highest quality standards were met in every aspect of the design and installation.

SILs and LSILs. Unlocking the Full Potential of Industrial Land.

At Simon Kaufman Architects our knowledge of Strategic Industrial Land (SILs) and Local Strategic Industrial Land (LSILs) has helped our clients successfully maximise both the utility and profitability of underused commercial and industrial sites.

At Simon Kaufman Architects, we are dedicated to delivering the best design and construction guidance, ensuring the creation of attractive and enduring residential, commercial, and mixed-use buildings.

From our base in Barnet, we work across Greater London, Hertfordshire and across the UK. We were part of the design team for a new development of 300 homes in Greenwich Millennium Village, London, aiming to create modern, sustainable homes that met the latest building regulations and offered a great living environment. Sustainability was a big priority. The buildings are energy-efficient and use eco-friendly materials.

One of the challenges we faced was ensuring the design was cost-effective to build. We achieved this by making some clever changes to the original plans that didn't affect the overall design but made it more achievable.

Here's a date for the diaries of all our local Barnet and North London friends!
As part of London Festival of Architecture, The Barnet Vale Festival 2024 takes place between 11am and 4pm on Sunday 23rd June 2024 in Tudor Park Sports Ground, Barnet.

It's great example of Simon Kaufman Architect's work in action. As a trustee and vice-chair of the Friends of Tudor Park & Pavilion, a charity Simon Kaufman helped establish whilst working with the Barnet Society, we're supporting the restoration of this greatly loved local Barnet Park. Focusing on the restoration of a dilapidated and unused historic cricket pavilion which you can see on the festival poster, we intend to transform it into an active new heart for the community of Barnet Vale (as well as the Festival Poster, our pictures show the current state of repair of the pavilion together with a selection of our plans and drawings for the transformative project).

Due to our efforts, and a group of enthusiastic and dedicated volunteers(!), The Friends group has recently been selected by Barnet Council as the 'preferred occupier' of the Pavilion and we're currently finalising the lease agreement with the Council Estates Team, which is a crucial step before we will be able to secure National Lottery funding for the restoration. This would be a landmark achievement for Tudor Park and the wider Barnet area.

By actively contributing and volunteering our time to these initiatives, Simon Kaufman Architects is working to ensure that our expertise benefits not just our clients, but our friends and neighbourhoods too. We're firm believers that well-designed spaces can foster a stronger sense of community, and we're committed to playing a major part in making that happen.

The Barnet Vale Festival will be bigger than ever this year with loads going on for all ages. It will feature stalls from local businesses and environmental groups, food and drink, sports and “have-a-go” activities like yoga and pilates, medieval sword fighting displays, games and children's activities, as well as music and performances from local artists, displays about the pavilion and park, plus speakers talking about architecture and environmental issues. The festival is free – so if you are in the area please come along and share in the fun with your family!

As an architect, there’s nothing more fulfilling than seeing the successful completion of a building project. So, we’re very proud to announce the successful completion of one of our most important local design projects: the refurbishment and two-storey upward extension of Lincoln Road Medical Practice in Enfield, North London.

Our pictures show both the original and completed building and brickwork detail.

This successful completion is especially gratifying as the Lincoln Road Medical Practice had been subject to two previously rejected planning applications by others before we became involved. Our urban-design-led approach obtained planning permission first time.

Today is World Environment Day with the theme 'Our land. Our future. We are .'

As architects, we play a pivotal role in this movement. Sustainable design is important because it can help to reduce our impact on the environment. This can be done by using recycled materials, designing buildings that are energy-efficient, and incorporating green spaces. Sustainable design can also lead to cost savings, as buildings that are energy-efficient use less energy and water.

By integrating sustainable practices and promoting green design, we can help restore degraded land and create resilient urban spaces. It’s important to collaborate on projects that prioritise environmental health, advocate for sustainable policies, and educate our communities.
