A bit of base time for Ryan and Nipper 🦅
Nipper has just come through his moult, so it’s a great opportunity for Ryan to spend some one-to-one time with him, build that bond and give him a thorough once-over to make sure he’s in tip-top condition.
Excuse the slightly wobbly, back-to-front footage 😂 Ryan was buzzing to be spending time with him and couldn’t wait to show us just how settled Nipper is on the glove. ❤️🦅

Meet Scooter 🦅
Scooter is one of our newest falcons—a Gyr × Saker hybrid currently in the early stages of his training.
Building trust is the foundation of everything we do, and feeding confidently from the glove is an important step in developing a strong partnership.

👋 Did you spot us at Turf Moor?

Ryan and Jeff were out and about at Turf Moor last week, doing what they do best. 🦅⚽

We work at some pretty impressive places, so if you spot the Lancashire Bird Control team out and about, give us a wave or come and say hello! 👋

You never know where you might see us next… 👀🦅

🪽 Sometimes, the kindest thing we can do is let them go.

A couple of weeks ago, we received a call from one of our sites regarding an injured juvenile gull.

We attend this site as part of an ongoing bird management programme, helping to move gulls further back to safer areas within the site.

A few days before our visit, a gull had been reported as having been hit by a car. Unfortunately, it had managed to hide out of sight and couldn't be located at the time. When the bird was eventually found, it was clear the injury was substantial and infection had already begun to set in.

Charlotte safely caught the gull and it was taken to Animal A&E Vets in Blackpool, who without hesitation took the bird in for assessment.

Sadly, due to the severity and location of the injury, the decision was made to humanely euthanise the gull.

It’s never an easy outcome, but sometimes euthanasia really is the kindest option. This gull would not have been able to fly and would have been left suffering with ongoing pain.

Bird management isn't always about moving birds on. Sometimes it's about recognising when one needs help and making sure it receives the appropriate care.

Not every rescue has a happy ending, but every bird deserves compassion. ❤️🪽

🪽 Bird control isn’t always what people presume…

This young gull had found itself on a lower roof at Blackpool Victoria Hospital, surrounded by built-up sides. As it wasn’t yet able to fly properly, it simply couldn’t gain enough lift to get itself back out.

Our very own Charlotte was quickly on hand to rescue it and relocate it to a more suitable roof, safely back near its parents. ❤️

Bird management at its finest. 🦅🪽

🦅 DID YOU SEE US? 👀⚽️

Last Saturday, 15th August, we had our first ever matchday at the Toughsheet Stadium as a Business Partner of Bolton Wanderers!

Carley, Richard, Erin and a few friends headed along for Bolton Wanderers v Preston North End — which made for an interesting day considering we’re actually North End fans! 😂

Richard does have a soft spot for Bolton though, having been born there, so we’ll let him off! 😉

It was fantastic to be there and experience our first matchday with the club. We’re really looking forward to seeing what this partnership brings.

🤫 We’ve been keeping a little secret…

Meet Maleficent 🦅🖤

Only a select few have met her so far, but after quietly settling into life with us, we thought it was finally time to officially introduce her.

Maleficent made her first public appearance with us at Blackpool Airshow and has since been to a couple of our quieter sites while she gets to know us, her new surroundings and her new job.

And there’s a very special story behind how Maleficent came to us. ❤️

She was very kindly gifted to us by Joules’ parents, the incredible people behind Dancing for Joules.

Joules sadly lost her life to an incurable brain tumour at just six years old, but her love of dancing and the legacy her parents have built in her memory continues to make a difference to other children and families. 💗

If you can, please give Dancing for Joules a follow, share their story and, if you’re in a position to do so, consider supporting their incredible work with a donation.

We feel incredibly lucky to have Maleficent as part of our team — and even luckier to know the very special people behind her story. 🖤🦅

Welcome to the LBC family, Maleficent. ❤️

✈️🦅 Aviation aces cross flight paths at Blackpool Airshow!

One flies at Mach speed. The other takes to the skies on feathered wings.😄

Last weekend, Typhoon Display Pilot, Flt Lt Tom Nation met Geoff the Harris Hawk from Lancashire Bird Control at Blackpool Airport, bringing together two very different aviation aces!

While Flt Lt Nation wowed hundreds of thousands of spectators, Geoff was hard at work behind the scenes, helping to deter birds that could pose a risk to aircraft.

Visitors enjoyed the spectacular variety of military and civilian aircraft while our teams were busy behind the scenes.

From Hangar 3 handling arriving, departing and displaying aircraft to Lancashire Bird Control keeping the skies safe and our Fire, Operations, Air Traffic Control, Refuelling and Security teams all working together, it takes a huge team effort to deliver a safe and successful airshow.

A huge thank you to everyone who helped make Blackpool Airshow 2026 such a success and a special thanks to Andy Bell for capturing this amazing picture! 💙✈️

Huge thank you to Matt Aggett for making us some hoods for our falcons. The quality and workmanship are absolutely unreal! 👌

We met Matt at the Falconry Fair a few weeks ago, and he’s genuinely one of the nicest people you could meet, with an incredible amount of knowledge and skill.

Couldn’t be happier with the hoods — fantastic work, Matt! 🦅👏
