🚪 New Oak Doors – A Fresh Look! 🪵

Love a new oak door! It can completely change the feel and look of a room.

This job involved fitting 3 fully glazed Genoa oak doors, finished with polished satin handle packs, and 1 Howdenby door for the bathroom.

Interestingly, this house was built around 30 years ago, and all the door frames and jambs were made from MDF. 🤔 You never know what you might come across!

The main kitchen door frame needed a bit more work than expected. Once fitted, the gaps at the top and bottom were almost 20mm. Perfect if you like a breeze coming through! 😂

So, off came the architraves and frame, everything was cut and adjusted to the correct size, then reinstalled properly for the client.

The fully glazed oak doors really pop and have given each room a fresh, modern feel. 👌

It’s been a while since I’ve posted on here, so I thought I’d give everyone a little update.

For the last 9 months I’ve been working alongside another contractor, which has kept me extremely busy and meant CPM has taken a bit of a back seat.

But I’m now ready to start taking on projects through CPM – Charlie’s Property Maintenance again! 💪

🌧 Tired of getting soaked every time you unlock the door? 🌧

This bespoke timber canopy was designed to solve exactly that problem — while also adding real character to the entrance.

Built by hand and tailored to the property, the canopy features a Samaca Q33 slate-tiled roof, giving a clean, traditional finish that sits perfectly with the existing house. Lead flashing was installed for long-term weather protection, ensuring a durable seal where the canopy meets the wall.

The structure itself includes a 90° valley with two sets of jack rafters, all carefully set out and framed to create strong lines and proper water run-off. The sides were tongue-and-groove clad for a neat, enclosed look, finished with PAR boards forming a crisp, attractive fascia.

To keep everything performing as it should, we also included:
💧 A full gutter system feeding into a water butt
🌬 Counter-battening to allow any trapped moisture to escape safely out the front of the canopy.
The result is a canopy that doesn’t just look good — it’s been thought through from the inside out, combining craftsmanship, longevity, and everyday practicality.

Sometimes it’s the smaller additions that make the biggest difference — turning a simple doorway into a welcoming, sheltered entrance in all weathers.
