Vernacular Homes is a Kent construction company providing architectural design, planning and building services for private clients, self-builders, landowners and small developers. We design and build individual new homes, self-build properties and carefully considered small residential developments.

🍃These large sliding doors link the open plan living area of this barn - lounge, kitchen and dining to the outside.

✨They will step out onto a wrap-around walkway and take to straight into the garden.

👉Check back later in the year for how this project looks when we're finished - the new owners should be in for Christmas! 🎄

This barn conversion over at Cranbrook, Kent, with its larch cladding sits beautifully in the nature that surrounds it.

PROJECT IN PROGRESS
Originally designed as a 2-storey conversion, we redesigned the plans to create a single-storey, open plan 3-bed home.
Some floor space was lost in changing from two storeys too one, but the budget is now back in line and the high ceilings are a design feature our client welcomed.
Plans were submitted under Class Q – planning legislation that allows the conversion of an agricultural building into a residential property without requiring detailed assessment.
