Unlike sheds or outbuildings, which are usually wood-panelled and prone to damage in extreme weather, garden rooms are designed for living. They’re well-insulated, have an electrical supply and plumbing. All necessary features required to comply with building regulations.

The good news is that in the UK, most garden rooms do not need planning permission if they meet certain criteria. This is called permitted development rights.
