Remember all that black rubber from the last Reel? This is what it was all for 💚

We’re back at the nursery in Buckinghamshire, and the wet pour playground surface now has its finished emerald green EPDM layer.

The EPDM is the coloured wearing layer that sits over the impact-absorbing SBR base we showed you last time, creating the finished, durable surface ready for plenty of little feet.

Quite a transformation from what’s hiding underneath 👀

You see the colourful rubber. Your child sees somewhere to climb, run and inevitably fall 😂

But what’s underneath it matters.

We’re installing a wet pour rubber playground surface at a nursery in Buckinghamshire, starting with the SBR impact-absorbing base layer. It’s made from recycled rubber granules and mixed with polyurethane binder.

Here’s the clever bit 👇

The depth is worked out around the Critical Fall Height (CFH) of the play equipment. The greater the potential fall height, the more impact absorption is needed underneath.

It’s something most of us would never think about while watching children tear around a playground, but now you know what’s hiding under that coloured surface.

This is the stage where it really starts to feel like a room 👀

Our Amersham garden room is coming together nicely. Still plenty happening behind the scenes, but it’s really starting to take shape now.

And there’s more happening outside too, with the patio being extended and the surrounding garden coming together alongside it.

Lots changing on this one. We’ll keep you posted as it all comes together.
