Renovation or New Build? 🏡

One of the first questions we help clients answer is whether to transform what they already have or start again with a completely new home.

The right approach depends on a number of factors, including the condition of the existing property, planning constraints, budget, sustainability goals and your long-term aspirations for the site.

At Kimble Roden, we design both renovations and new-build homes. Our role is to guide clients through the opportunities, challenges and costs of each option, helping them make an informed decision from the outset.

First impressions matter. ✨



For this project, our clients loved their home but felt the front entrance lacked the sense of arrival it deserved. The house had a long Georgian-inspired elevation, yet the entrance felt understated and difficult to read.

By introducing a natural stone portico and a pair of garages arranged to create an entrance courtyard, we were able to redefine the approach to the house. Inspired by the relationship between a traditional country house and its stables, the design creates a stronger hierarchy, improves wayfinding and gives the home the presence and character it had always been missing.



Carefully proportioned to complement the existing architecture rather than overwhelm it, the new entrance combines timeless materials, bronze detailing and considered craftsmanship to create a welcoming first impression.



Because good design isn't always about adding more space – sometimes it's about elevating the spaces you already have and transforming the way they are experienced.

This week Emma and Edwina had the pleasure of a visit to in Northampstonshire.

While our main aim was to research lighting options for a number of current interior design projects, the setting itself proved just as inspiring. Housed within a beautifully restored historic estate, RH England offers a unique combination of architecture, interiors and landscape design. Seeing materials, finishes and lighting schemes in person is an invaluable part of our design process, helping us create thoughtful and timeless homes for our clients.
