We’ve started asking where our food comes from.
Who grew it. How it was made. What’s in it.

But we rarely ask the same about the things around us
in our homes, workplaces, and shared spaces.

A table. A counter. A piece of joinery.
Where did the material come from?
Who made it?
How was it put together?

Every piece of timber passes through many hands —
from the tree, to the workshop, to the place it lives.

And along the way, something else is passed on too:
care… or a lack of it.

Because the real difference isn’t just how something looks.
It’s how it was made and whether that process respected
people, materials, and place.

“When you choose something made with care,
you’re not just buying an object.
You’re becoming part of its story.”

And that’s what makes something worth keeping.

A simple question to ask:
Do I know where this came from?

This table started life as two full-width boards of London Plane felled from Kensington Palace.

From there, we book-matched them into a single solid piece, with a black walnut splice running down the centre. Each section was levelled on the CNC, the two halves joined, then back on the CNC to be levelled again before being processed on the table saw to final size — including a 30° bevel cut to mirror the walnut splice.

There’s something special about working with timber that carries a history before it ever reaches the workshop. This is just the beginning.

🪵 On site today installing this beautiful bespoke birch ply kitchen.

Pre-assembled in our workshop first to make sure everything fits together perfectly. Our glueless construction means clean, precise assembly on site and a finish that speaks for itself.

The family are away for Easter, so we’re getting it all done as a lovely surprise. 🐣 They have no idea what’s waiting for them when they get home. 👀

Finished photos coming very soon, we can’t wait to show you. ✨

This oak joinery designed and built for a home in Oxford isn’t just beautiful, it’s part of a considered approach to healthy living. Natural wood, low-VOC finishes, and honest materials mean the air you breathe at home stays clean and pure.

One of our clients had suffered with hypersensitivity issues for 20 years, struggling to get a proper night’s sleep. The day she moved back in after her refurbishment was complete, she finally slept. That’s the power of getting the materials right.

Most people don’t realise that a newly refurbished home can actually be one of the worst environments for air quality. Fresh paints, varnishes and synthetic materials release VOCs, volatile organic compounds sometimes for months after completion. We use a plant-based, zero-VOC oil finish, so there’s no off-gassing, no compromise, and no waiting for your home to feel safe again.

A calm space. Clean air. Good design. ✨

On Monday we spoke at the Blum Hub during KBB about what sustainability in kitchens really means.

Not just repairability, reuse and transparency though all of that matters. But the things the sustainability conversation so often forgets.

The materials people are breathing in every time they cook. The natural wood that neuroscience now confirms measurably lowers stress and calms the nervous system. The child who can reach their own cup. The aging parent who doesn’t have to bend. The maker whose craft survives because someone chose considered over cheap.

The kitchen is the heart of the home. It deserves to be designed that way.

The industry has a long way to go. Fewer than a third of kitchen designers currently consider sustainable design a must-have. But the conversation is changing. Slowly, in rooms that matter.

After the talk someone told us they’d felt like a lone voice in this industry for a very long time. That’s why we keep talking about it.

At the end we were asked to sum it all up in one word.

Care. 🌿

Some materials carry whole histories with them. This bespoke table we are currently working on is one of those pieces. The base is crafted from English elm, a timber now rarely seen in furniture since Dutch elm disease reshaped our landscapes. Mature elm is incredibly difficult to source today; working with it feels like honouring a lineage that’s had almost disappeared. For the tabletop we paired it with a recycled denim veneer. Denim that once lived as everyday clothing is transformed into a richly textured, durable surface a material with memory reimagined for a new purpose. Heritage meets circular craft. A piece made to last.
