Now the results are in, plenty of school leavers are weighing up what comes next. Here’s a thought 💭 some of the sharpest people we know chose a trade first.

We're taking on an apprentice electrician at BlackRock. You'll earn from day one, attend college in Wheatley on block release and work towards becoming fully qualified in four years, with a skill that's in demand everywhere, for life. You'll need to be able to travel to Wheatley for each college block.

You'll need grade 4 or above in maths and English. The rest is about you: turn up on time, ask questions and care about doing it right.

Is air conditioning actually worth it in Britain?

Honest answer from people who fit it for a living: for a lot of homes yes, for some homes no, and we'll tell you which is which.

Two things surprise almost everyone. Running a modern system costs far less than people think (cooling a bedroom overnight is roughly the price of a chocolate bar).

And the same unit heats the room in winter for less than most heating options, which changes the maths completely.

But if your house only overheats two days a year, we'd honestly point you at a decent fan and better blinds instead.

Here is something not every solar company tells you.

If your installer is not MCS certified, you cannot get paid for the electricity you export to the grid. No certificate, no export payments. It is that simple, and it catches people out.

New look. New website. Same trusted local team.
