I discovered the majority of my ‘inspirational’ images are water related, which makes for a very calming subject matter for a lovely day off at Chapel Cottage Studio. Here’s my first attempt at abstract in acrylics. So much to learn on technique but a brilliant foundation created by Feona Ness to start from! Thanks Tiz Snook for a perfect day away!

For all our teaching clients, If you missed the NFU Education (National Farmers Union) Science Farm LIVE last week. Why not check out the lesson about how are sheep connected to seaweed?
Here at SuDSPlanter our rural roots run strongly through our sustainability ethos, using recycled agricultural waste to produce our recycled lumber planters. Our planters have fed the nation before they clean up our waterways with storm water storage and biodiversity gain when greening up the grey environment.

I've always wanted a dog, a real dog with real emotions.... creating a bubble of euphoria whenever it sees me. But that's a dog, an indipendent entity sharing its emotional joy with you, uncomplicated by outside influences, embracing simple pleasures. However tonight I'm thinking about other dogs, a dog that was first introduced to me a few years ago by a dear friend of mine, a male friend and that point matters. [ 417 more words ]

So at the beginning of my Nuffield journey there was all to play for..... I felt lost in my carrier, uprooted by a lack of 'permanency' to my dwelling and a un nerved by a fragmented lifestyle of home, Horse, friends and family. 2 years on, I've made a stand.... Last month I chose to do something about it! We all have role models, and I've made no bones about mine, it's my granny, and my dad, however I don't think the bravery granny had to face challenges head on, solo, or the wise ness dad had has ever been obvious in my own decision making process. Well the very scary thing about presenting is that that window of time seems to travel by as a blur, and to reflect on it's success, or failure, accuracy and content used to be difficult to track, prior to the camera! Do we need to thank modern technology or curse it, I am not sure, but I know all of my Nuffield friends and I have been gazing through our videos pondering on how we might do it better, or could we have done worse dependant on 'are you your harshest critic'? My Nuffield journey. At the going down of the sun and in the morning we will remember them. 2018 has been a memorable year for a number of reasons, pontificating thoughts of change, conclusion and learning have been had by many I hope, not few. However for those of us in the Nuffield 2017 year those will have been about the closing of a chapter, the opening of doors and the developments of friendships, relationships and futures I hope. Lorna Davis Designs is at it again! A great week setting up the Wildlife Trust Wales stand at the Builth wells! This always comes as an honour, such a lovely client, and a really interesting opportunity to understand their views and vision on wildlife in Wales. I love my job and I do love this show! Pop by the stand to see Hank the beaver and another water feature from the water bore! 😅

Through my Nuffield travels I have tended to focus on the 'alternative' approaches in agriculture as making the most sense. I'm not sure if that's because I have an artistic (or 'autistic' brain as my family like to say) and tend to be attracted by non conformation (My great aunt was a suffragette you know!) However I have learnt to appreciate that every system has its pros and cons, and that a principled approach to how agriculture evolves going forward is going to be what gets the UK out of strife. A snap shot of NZ and it’s diversity in landscape, economy and the issues this raises with regards to managing it for water! Must post more frequently to explain how personally and professionally my Nuffield has broadened my mind on the complexity we face in managing our human footprint to not muck up the environmental one!

I've been ed! I started my day with a run around a very small part of Stockholm to start Day 2 of the SIWI conference and my brain is dancing with excitement at the lessons to be learnt and people to meet today! Well worth looking at the Arup presentation on Circular economy and the debate on waste water reuse in water scarcity.
