🪜Renovation of a Two-Storey House
📐Schematic Design Phase - Approved

The existing condition of the house is short of ideal due to the knee-height ceiling of the majority of the upper floor area caused by the inefficient design of the roof.
To make the space livable for the owners, we redesigned the roof to allow natural light and ventilation into the interiors and to increase its habitable volumes. Because of the placement of the existing roof beams, we came up with the best possible solution of using an inside gutter roof typology, while the rest of the roofing is gutter-less to counter the amount of maintenance.
More than half of the floor area is wasted space on the ground floor, so we opened up the space by eliminating unnecessary rooms to provide more outdoor living spaces that immediately connects to the indoors.
Existing columns and beams are reused to minimize the cost and preserve the project’s origins.

We introduce our firm’s own modular building design.

𝗕𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗸𝘀 𝗯𝘆 𝗦𝗔𝗧𝗢 is our patent for a smart modular building system developed from the need of a user-centric and site-flexible building model. Blocks by SATO is aiming to provide a variable system that can adapt to almost every unique site. Blocks by SATO can be expanded or reduced according to its user and environment. The components of Blocks by SATO are user-defined to create a distinct personality for each model. The users can add or change “blocks” and prefabricated panels to upgrade and customize their unit. Blocks by SATO caters not only residential use but also compound operations like commercial and retail.

𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘓𝘢𝘬𝘦 is Blocks by SATO’s first render to real project. The Lake is a lakefront development standing in a sloping site and categorized by a phasing complex. Blocks by SATO's configurable system is a versatile fit for the project.

SATO is open to collaboration and continuing development of Blocks by SATO.
