🌟 Employee Spotlight: David Cowell 🌟
This week, we’re excited to highlight David Cowell, who has been a dedicated member of our team for the past 3 years. David plays a versatile role within the company, contributing wherever he’s needed—whether that’s labouring on-site, operating as an AZ driver, assisting with snow removal, or supporting our mechanics in the shop. His willingness to take on a variety of tasks makes him an essential part of our day-to-day operations.

David’s journey with us started even before his official employment, beginning as a co-op student. During that time, he gained hands-on experience as a labourer, and after joining the team full-time, he continued to grow his skillset. Since then, he has earned his AZ license and expanded into operating equipment, showing a strong commitment to learning and developing within the company.

Outside of work, David enjoys making the most of his time outdoors—especially camping and fishing—and values spending quality time with family and friends. He’s also the proud owner of a 5-year-old corgi named Kevin, who no doubt keeps life entertaining!

When asked what he’d like clients to know about our team, David shared that we’re “friendly, professional, and more like a tight-knit family”—something we’re incredibly proud of and strive to reflect in everything we do.

We truly appreciate David’s strong work ethic, positive attitude, and reliability. His ability to step into multiple roles and consistently give his best effort does not go unnoticed. 🚧 Project Update: Septic System Installation & Backfill Complete 🚧

Big progress on this property transformation! These photos show the installation of a new septic system, including excavation, placement of the septic components, and the backfilling process. Once all underground work was completed and inspected, the area was carefully backfilled and graded to restore the site.

A lot of work goes into what you can’t see beneath the surface—proper excavation, bedding, drainage, and compaction are all key to ensuring a long-lasting and reliable septic system.

For the past 8 years, Brad has played a key role in the success of our excavation, grading, and snow removal operations. From operating heavy equipment and fine grading projects to overseeing job sites and contributing to our Health & Safety team, Brad brings experience, leadership, and attention to detail to every project he touches.

Brad started his career with us as an Equipment Operator and has continued to grow into a trusted team member who can be counted on to keep projects moving efficiently and safely. Whether he's excavating for a new development, preparing a site for construction, or ensuring work is completed to the highest standards, Brad takes pride in delivering quality results for our clients.

What truly sets Brad apart is his positive attitude and commitment to the people around him. He is always willing to lend a hand, share his knowledge, and help create a work environment where everyone can succeed. His dedication, reliability, and hard work are deeply appreciated by both his coworkers and management, and we're incredibly grateful for everything he contributes to our team.

🌟 Employee Spotlight: Cole Turnbull 🌟

This week, we're proud to introduce Cole Turnbull, one of our dedicated General Labourers who has been an important part of our team for just over a year. In his role, Cole assists our equipment operators and excavation crews in preparing job sites, supports machine operators, and steps in to run various pieces of equipment whenever needed. His willingness to take on any task and help wherever he can makes him a valuable asset to every project.

When he's not at work, Cole enjoys spending time outdoors fishing, camping, and making memories with family and friends. Family is important to him, and that includes his parents, brother, sister, and his four-year-old American Bulldog, Annie. Construction and trucking are a family affair, as Cole's dad is also part of the team, working in our AZ Aggregate Hauling Division.

When asked what he would like our customers to know about our company, Cole shared that our team is committed to delivering quality work in a timely manner. We couldn't agree more. Cole demonstrates that commitment every day through his strong work ethic, positive attitude, and dedication to getting the job done right.

This week, we're recognizing Cody White, our Foreman / Equipment Operator, for his dedication and leadership over the past 19 years with Malcolm Excavating.

Cody started with us as a labourer and worked his way up through hard work, experience, and commitment to quality. Today, he oversees field crews, coordinates daily operations, schedules jobs, and still jumps into the equipment whenever he can.

When he's not on the job site, Cody enjoys spending time with his wife Beckie, their boys Nixon and Dax, and their 16-year-old Boston Terrier, Dahlia. Whether it's fishing, biking, or practicing soccer and hockey with his boys, family time is what matters most.

One thing Cody wants our customers to know:

This week, we’re proud to shine the spotlight on Greg Evanitski — better known around the workplace as “Father Float”! Greg has been an important part of our team for the past five years, bringing dedication, leadership, and a strong work ethic to everything he does.

Greg currently serves as our Float Division Supervisor, scheduler, and AZ driver, helping coordinate daily operations while also staying hands-on in the field. During the winter season, he plays a key role in snow removal operations, helping ensure our customers continue to receive dependable service no matter the conditions. His willingness to step in wherever needed and keep things moving smoothly makes him a valued member of our team.

Greg originally joined the company as a Float AZ Driver and has grown into his current leadership role through years of hard work, commitment, and experience. His positive attitude, reliability, and dedication to both the team and our customers do not go unnoticed, and we truly appreciate everything he brings to the company each day.

Outside of work, Greg enjoys riding his side-by-side, travelling, and relaxing with a cold beer. Family is a big part of his life, and he loves spending time with his wife Michelle, their children and grandkids, and their family dog, Milo.

For the past 4 years, Ben has been an important part of our team, helping keep projects moving smoothly throughout the year. During the construction season, he operates a dump truck and supports crews on job sites, and in the winter months, he helps keep roads safe and clear through snow plowing operations. No matter the season, Ben consistently shows up ready to work and takes pride in doing the job right.

Ben started with our company in the same role he continues in today, and over the years he has become a valued and trusted member of the team. His strong work ethic, reliability, and positive attitude do not go unnoticed. Team members and customers alike appreciate his courteous and friendly approach, and the care he puts into his work every day.

Outside of work, Ben enjoys spending his downtime relaxing and recharging, as well as spending time with his son, daughter, and granddaughter — who are very important to him.
