🔴 SOLD - this beauty sold before I had taken the time to properly photograph it framed.

I was so happy to receive an email from the new owners after they received the certificate of authenticity in the mail. It means so much to know something I created found a home where it is so cherished. It reminds me that creating art isn’t just about the fun and the emotional process for me in creating it but it is about that amazing feeling when someone else connects with it enough to want to take it home. ❤️

Why was I was initially called Out of Touch Artwork?

A few people have asked, so if you’re curious:

It actually started as an anonymous photography page.

I was too shy and inexperienced to put my name to it but wanted the practice, it felt pointless to edit photos and do nothing with them. So I made an account to post them.

With hindsight, I probably chose the name because it felt distant enough from who I really am to be any risk.

But also I can be a bit of a hermit, I can go or stay out of touch from loved ones for a long time but still love them just as much. So in this sense, and a few others, I felt it fit.

I do think it served a good purpose in this stage of my life.

It definitely helped me overcome the fear.

Little by little I put more of my real self into the photo page until I put my face and name to it.

When I switched to art I used it as a placeholder but also piggy backed my new art account off of the old photo one a little bit.

As I have learned all these new exciting skills it finally feels I have really evolved past that stage of my life.

And it’s time for a more serious name.

If I’m honest I do want connection with others more than I let myself believe and so, it really comes down to the fact that I just don’t feel so out of touch anymore. 😉

No new exciting name. Just my name.

So glad I did something that scared me, because the only way to grow is to push through your comfort zone. 🌱

🔴 SOLD - 215 - 20 x 16 inch framed acrylic painting finished with oils.

When I was a teen I would help my brother on our farm. He would drive the tractor and feed hay in the winter and I would open and close the gates and take a knife and cut and pull the twine off the hay bales. Most cows would give a little space to a person working out there but a lot of our cows were pets and they had no issue being close, maybe too close in this case. There was this one little black cow with a big round belly shorter than a lot of the rest. I think she was number 215. She was so tame and she LOVED to eat most of all.

So I was out pulling strings on one of the first hay bales so the cows were hungry and eager and one pet came up beside me and I greeted her and pat her on the back then kept working. Well here comes little 215 and she shoves up right beside me and this other cow. The way she pushed in was sort of like a hip check, she gently lifted me off my feet and I was wedged between these two sweethearts with my feet dangling 🐄🧍🏻‍♀️🐄 and I they had my arms sort of pinned between their stomaches so I could only move from the elbow down I was trying to get them to move but they were just happily eating, and I’m knocking on their sides and telling them to MOOve lol kicking my legs like a little annoying fly buzzing around to them I’m sure 😅. She eventually moved and my feet touched the ground and I finished collecting twine.

This painting reminds me of her and my farm girl roots. ❤️It is a picture I took myself of one of my brother’s cows. It started as a one hour acrylic challenge months ago. Then I added a layer of oil to add depth. It won second place 🥈 at the local Agricultural Fair.

It took me a long time to post it as I had all kinds of framing issues but it worked out in the end and I know shes going to the best new home 😉 my childhood home.

— FULL — Think you might like to try? You SHOULD!

The method I’m showing you here is SO beginner friendly!
It’s a nice 12 inch square canvas that you get to take home.

Worried 2 hours might not be enough time?
No problem! Acrylic is very forgiving. You could keep painting on it as long as you like.

For reference I painted the oriole above in an hour so I knew I’d have time to do a demo while still helping people.

I thought it might be fun to let you into my world a little bit. As I build the portfolio paintings I will try to post along the way. Like a little art journal.

I took a short break from painting to focus on finalizing sources for the portfolio I will be working on. I took some time to post more for the sake of organizing my page but now I’m starting some of those portraits I’ve been posting about. I’m getting back into it with excitement this week!!

Our kitchen is a bit torn apart at the moment so all the art is squeezed into this little corner for the time being. I’d love to make more space in the future!

The dark winter light in our house made photographing this piece difficult several months ago.

As I’m adding abstracts into a story highlight right now I want to post these new and improved images of it. 😍

This one sparked a lot of different feelings for different people. For me it speaks to the electric ⚡️ energy we feel living on this planet. The crest of a storm. The things we feel sight unseen, like when you get goosebumps listening to music or at a thought you have. I called it Rhythm of the Elements.

I feel the idea for the two abstracts I made together are difficult to thread and when I have experience with a few series I plan to revisit this idea with greater thought and detail in a full series.
