Contractor Warning – My Experience with Render Excavation

I want to share my own experience with Render Excavation so other contractors and homeowners can make their own informed decisions.

I completed two separate jobs for this company:

* One job was approximately $1,400
* The second job was approximately $1,600

Despite completing the work, I have not been paid for either job to date.

There was also another project that I referred to them. My understanding at the beginning was that the job would cost approximately $6,000. Later, the amount being discussed with the homeowner increased to approximately $19,000.

When I disagreed with how the situation was being handled and tried to address the issue, the dispute escalated. Posts were made about me in multiple Facebook groups, and I received communications from people associated with the company that I considered threatening and intimidating. The situation also interfered with my ability to deal directly with the customer and complete my part of the work.

I believe contractors should be paid for work they complete, pricing changes should be clearly explained to customers, and business disputes should be handled professionally rather than through social-media attacks or intimidation.

I have records relating to the work I performed, the amounts owing, and the communications surrounding this dispute.

This post reflects my personal experience and my understanding of what occurred. I am sharing it so others can do their own due diligence before entering into a business relationship with Render Excavation.

In the past, plumbing fixtures did not have their own P-traps. To protect the building from sewer gases and foul odors entering from the municipal sewer system, a building trap was installed at the main sewer outlet. This trap acted as a barrier against harmful gases and smells.

Today, all modern fixtures are designed with their own P-traps, which makes the building trap unnecessary. In fact, having a building trap in place can create several issues, including:
• Frequent blockages and clogs in the sewer line
• Reduced flow capacity
• Difficulty in cleaning and maintenance

For these reasons, building traps are no longer recommended in modern plumbing codes. In older properties, it is strongly advised to remove or replace the building trap to ensure the sewer system operates efficiently, safely, and in compliance with current standards.
