🍁🍂 Fall garden cleanups are well under way. We have been out doing our final rounds and putting client gardens to bed. Cutting back perennials, cleaning out containers of annuals, and a final weeding if needed. All these tasks are prepping for the next season coming - winter. ❄️
A few pics from two properties in Wi******er last week.

✂️ Cutting back gardens makes for a nice start to spring. New growth can emerge without being restricted or smothered. Especially when spring weather can drastically arrive so quickly.

This does not make you a bad person. There are still lots of areas where nature can hide and over winter; whether it be under shrubs, treed areas, fence lines, fields, and unkept areas in your neighborhood. There is no need to worry!

We will be back out again after the holiday, thoroughly enjoying the lovely fall weather!

We wrapped up Part 2 of this job in Greely this week. This consisted of the installation of commercial grade geotextile fabric , plastic edging and 5/8-3/4” river stone.

We cleaned up this property a couple of weeks ago and the client decided she wanted all the areas to be done in coloured river stone instead of her original plan, that being: grass seed.

So we did the best we could with the areas and made them cleaner and a lot less maintenance for the couple who had recently had a baby. Around the deck was a challenge as the underside had no finishing lattice or skirting around it. The plastic edging will keep the river stone contained and tidy.

Pleased with the results and this client won’t have to worry about it getting overgrown again.

Gertie loves helping with fall cleanups around the farm or any type of garden work in general. Glad she isn’t on the payroll, I would get nothing done during the week!! She sure is a cutie though, isn’t see?! 🐈 🥰

A complete gut job was done on this property in Greely earlier this week. These gardens had been let go and had gotten out of hand in a few short months. With the excess amount of rain we had this season, it’s not hard to believe.

The front gardens were cleaned out almost entirely. A couple of shrubs at the far end were left in and everything else was taken out. This client wanted a very minimalistic look, so only a few Hostas were planted. These were dug out from the backyard, and repurposed. Ending with the installation of cedar mulch.

The back and side yards were dug out and left bare. This client was going to plant grass seed, but has changed their minds and we have quotes to do edging and a river rock install.

Lots more maintenance done this week too. Gardens are looking shabby in places, which brings us into our fall cut down time in October 🍁🍂 Less than two weeks away.

A little garden cleanup and planting yesterday in Ottawa for a contractor friend.

This property had its challenges. Lots of big maple trees, which ment lots of big roots!!! Digging was definable a challenge in spots but we managed to get most plants where they were suppose to go. We had to work with the plants that were already there and fill in the open areas with the new plants that were picked and supplied by the contractor.

In the end it looked quite nice and a major improvement on what it was.

Happy Labour Day!!

Put the gloves down today. The beans will hold till Tuesday, and so will the weeds.

This is the day the country set aside for the people who built it with their hands, and a garden is the same kind of work on a smaller plot. You dug it, hauled for it, watered it through July, and it fed you. That earns a chair in the shade.

Sit in it. The tomatoes on the counter are the whole argument. 🍅

This small project near Iroquois was done up this week.

These clients had brought their well established plants and shrubs with them to their new home.

After we dug out the area for the garden they wanted, we added in fresh rich garden soil. We planted all the perennials and shrubs and finished off with black mulch.

They wanted a small ring of river rock around the pool, so we finished up with that. Top-dressed with topsoil to blend in with the grass area. ( no picture of that)

Wonderful and friendly clients. Glad we could help them out and get their plants planted for them in their new home.
