With the last week of August done, we are now seeing gorgeous hibiscus in full bloom. This one is stunning in a clients backyard garden in Ottawa. I think the pink ones are my absolute favourite! 💕

With the drought last year, the flowers on this plant were quite small. It’s nice to see it back to it’s natural beauty this summer.

A few pictures of this past week. It is nice to have the cool mornings once again, after another hot summer. The sun sets a lot earlier now, and we are seeing some fall colouring on the maple trees. 🍁

We saw some significant hail damage at a clients home near Morewood. Hosta’s took the brunt of the hit as well as a clump of hydrangeas. The adjacent soybean field had been stripped of its leaves. Not sure how this will affect the farmers crop yield at harvest time.

More maintenance done of course. We are finally seeing a slow down in the weeds! Hurray!! 🙌. They have been relentless this summer and there were many days we felt like they would never stop!

Another week done and in the books!! More and more rain has fallen, some hail and lots of sunshine ☀️

First pictures are from another river rock top up done early in the week. Variations of different sizes river rock was used on this property in Kemptville.

And of course, more and more maintenance got done on client gardens. With lots of deadheading of the Daylilies and Hostas. This certainly means summer is nearing its end soon. We should see the sedums starting to flower anytime now.🌸

My own garden is not so pretty this week. Early spring perennials are dying back, alot of the daylilies are almost done, and my poor globe thistle and coneflowers are bent over and leaning thanks to the high winds and torrential rain we got again this week.

One of my favourite perennials that is now out in flower is the Exhinops ( also known as: Globe Thistle).

This perennial typically grows anywhere between 60-150 cm, likes full sun ☀️ and is hardy for our climate. It is also drought tolerant, so it did quite well through last summers lack of rainfall.

The flowers are spherical in shape and are a lovely blue colour. This plant is a favourite with the pollinators!! 🐝

I look forward to it showing off its beauty this time of year in my garden! 🪴

Is it ever going to stop raining??!!☔️ This year has definitely been challenging and a polar opposite of last year!

The weeds are thriving and making us work harder than ever to keep gardens in top shape. Plants are lush, full and the blooms are out of this world.

A few pics I took on this very hot and humid week around Morrisburg.

A big Happy Birthday to Alyshia today!!! 🎂🎉

This girl has really stepped up and shown me what a great worker/employee/friend she is.
I am truly blessed to have her on my team!

Well, the last week of July is in the books and August is tomorrow! 😳 hard to believe we are over half way through our season!

Tons and tons more rain fell this week 🌧️ both grass and gardens are soaking wet!! Having to change gloves 3x per day seems the norm this week.

It was a nice hot day today, we got lots more gardens done up and weeded. I will certainly be glad when the crabgrass is done!!

A couple of estimates got done and then stopped at The Purple Cow in Greely for ice
cream🍦 on my way home! Lots of selection!!! Was a nice end to a long day 🍦

While it continues to rain today, I took advantage of the down time and went looking for some perennials that I need to spruce up a clients rock garden that I am redoing.

While some greenhouses are now closing up and selling off sick, tired looking plants 🪴 that are left over from their spring sales,
Les Serres Robert Plante Greenhouses are still stocked up on beautiful, healthy looking plants. And they restock frequently!!! It is a must on my recommendation list!! ✔️

Didn’t get to browse through the ornamental trees 🌳 and evergreens 🌲 outside as it was down pouring pretty good.

I thorough enjoy making the trip up to Navan to shop here. As time is limited during my peak busy times, I don’t always get up here as much as I would like to. But with the immanent rain ☔️ in the forecast , it was a perfect time to go.

Took mom with me today, so of course we had to stop and have breakfast at
The Stable Restaurant in Metcalfe. 🍳 always 5 ⭐️’s here.
