We are a small Home building company that takes pride in the quality of the homes we build. We are looking for a redseal Carpenter to join our team. We do everything from the foundation to siding to finishing so you won't get bored doing the same repetitive tasks all the time.

Job requirements:

Read and interpret blueprints, drawings and sketches to determine specifications and calculate requirements.

Prepare layouts in conformance to building codes using measuring tools.

Measure, cut, shape, assemble and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel and other material.

Build foundations, install floor beams, lay sub flooring, and erect walls and roof systems.

Fit and install trim items such as doors, stairs, moulding and hardware.

Supervise apprentices and other construction workers.

Requirements/Qualifications: Trade certification. Must have your own hand tools and transportation.

Whitehorse Yukon is currently experiencing a housing crunch and rentals are hard to find so Candidates with housing in Whitehorse will be prioritized

This is a great step to help prevent another permit backlog and should make permitting faster moving forward

Pre-Approved Housing Design Models to Expedite Building Permit Issuance.

The City is encouraging builders and developers to secure a pre-approved model design for single and duplex home building projects.

Implementing a City-wide program of pre-approved ‘model designs’ was a core recommendation put forward in the 2024 Building Permit Backlog Review. (available at engagewhitehorse.ca/building-permits)

A pre-approved, Building Code compliant, house model can serve as a ‘repeat’ that can be efficiently positioned on multiple legal lots across Whitehorse.

The City is now accepting submissions from home builders to secure pre-approval for single/duplex models. At this time, the program does not allow for pre-approvals on townhouses.

This is part of the work underway to improve the City’s building permit process and support local development.

Job description
The ideal candidate will be able to meet deadlines and communicate effectively. We are currently seeking candidates who have an eye for detail and knowledge of carpentry principles. A strong work ethic is vital to our company, and we are looking for someone who can set goals and achieve them through determination and hard work.

Responsibilities:
Do carpentry work in residential construction
Use hand tools.
Use power tools such as saws,drills, pneumatic nail guns.
Build simple frames from wood and other materials.
Follow instructions and work as a team
Must have own tool belt and hand tools (Hammer, Tape measure, etc.)
Power Tools provided by company.

Job Types: Full-time, Apprenticeship

Pay: $25.00-$40.00 per hour
Pay is based on the yukon fair wage scale and the yukon apprentiship agreement
We also provide a Health spending account.

Expected hours:
40 per week

Schedule:
8 hour shift
Monday to Friday

Must be enrolled in the yukon apprenticeship program

Driving Licence and vehicle (required)
Work Location: In person
