Well this was a particularly cool project.
The client had some super rotted out stairs and let me take some creative license for the fix. I stumbled across a guy in a sandwich shop who had some reclaimed fir from the arches of a church that came down in Brentwood Bay. I already agreed to do the stairs and when the fir came along I thought it would be a perfect use for them. So I cleaned em up. Oiled em. Dug out the old stairs along with the bio matter and soil that was built up behind them. Put in drain rock, screening, pavers and w**d fabric to prevent water build up and plant growth. Fit all the treads and back filled as I went.

I am, so stoked on how these came out!!!

Got the chance to do a fun little door install in Fernwood this past week. Added a set of French doors to create some separation from the laundry machines. A transom light was added to maintain some natural light into the corridor area. The trickiest part was fitting as large a door as possible, into such tight framing and still have the trim flow and look appropriate and proportionate to the space.

Designed, built and installed, a Japanese inspired garden tool storage area. Half laps, bridals, mortice and tenons, scalloped front beam and a cedar shake roof.

Best part, it hangs of the deck and doesn't even touch the ground.
