Waymark Architects were thrilled to have received the 2020 Canadian Green Building Award for Charter Telecom's Headquarters in Langford, BC. Having visionary clients facilitated the design of this high performance, cross laminated timber, commercial building. It is the first commercial office building in North America built to Passive House standard. Hopefully there will be many more to come! Road’sEnd is very proud to be the general contractor of this amazing building

The build in Sheringham hasn’t been easy. The waterfront lot is steep , social distancing came into effect and the owners were unable to cross the border to Canada. There has been lots of video conferencing and exchanging of photos to help keep the owners abreast of the progress. Hopefully they’ll be able to come and view their beautiful new home soon.

The Charter Telecom office building in Langford nears completion. It is the first Passive House Build of a commercial building in Western Canada and is full of amazing technology. It is a mass timber frame building, striving for net zero energy consumption and has high efficiency Heat recovery and ventilation units that recover the heat from the stale air in the building and transfer it to the fresh air coming into the building. All the hot water is created through air to water heat pumps. It is a state of the art building for a state of the art telecommunication company.
