Type 2 Waterloo Biofilter basket system with timed dose pressurized sand mound and adjacent sand mantle zone. Designed by Advanced Onsite Solutions and installed in collaboration with David Stalker Excavating for a 4-bedroom new home construction by GNB Builders in Nanoose Bay, BC.

This ocean front property is subject to seasonal high ground water which required importing sand to place on top of the natural ground surface for the dispersal system. The adjacent sand mantle zone provides for additional infiltration within the receiving area since the site could not accommodate the full length of the mound as per linear loading rate standards. The Waterloo Biofilter treatment system provides high level secondary treatment of the effluent being delivered to the sand mound to better protect the receiving environment and prolong the lifespan of the mound.

The home was constructed with the slab above the natural ground surface, which allowed for the elevation of the yard to be raised and effectively hide the sand mound, giving an aesthetically pleasing finished landscaped look.

LFH At-Grade system. Type 2 treatment method with timed dosed pressurized laterals. Designed by Advanced Onsite Solutions, and installed in collaboration with David Stalker Excavating Ltd for a 4-bedroom home in Ladysmith, BC.

LFH At-Grade systems are a method to utilize the highly absorbent and biologically active forest ground surface made up of the litter layer of forest needles, leaves, twigs, and mosses (known as the LFH horizon). The appeal of these systems, when the conditions are right, is that the septic field can be installed within a treed area and when completed, they develop a vegetation cover that looks completely natural. As well, rather than cutting down trees to make room for a traditional septic field, the property owner is able to preserve their forested lot which is usually a feature which they desired when acquiring their property.
