This behemoth leaf came from a re-grown Lilac. We did a renewal pruning back in April which brought the bush right to the ground.
Although the new growth was tender it reached a little over 6ft by fall!

Winter dormancy is the ideal time to prune most trees.
Trimming while the tree is dormant reduces the "shock" to the tree and can improve overall healthy growth.
With the colder weather, there is also a significantly lower risk of disease transmission due to pruning.
