Thinking about insulating your basement walls?
Adding 2" of closed-cell spray foam to concrete basement walls provides about R-12 to R-14 insulation. For comparison, an 8" concrete wall by itself is only about R-8.
Spray foam helps by: • Reducing heat loss through the foundation
• Keeping basement walls warmer in winter
• Reducing condensation on cold concrete
• Acting as both an air barrier and a moisture barrier
When installed properly and continuously, it improves comfort and energy efficiency in the home.
Proper air sealing around rim joists and other penetrations is still important for best results.
