The homeowners loved their Burnaby neighbourhood and couldn’t imagine leaving the community they had built their lives in. But as their family grew, they needed more space, better functionality, and a home designed for modern living.
Rather than moving away, they chose to reimagine the property they already loved.

Kerr Design Build transformed the original bungalow into a bright, contemporary custom home featuring open-concept living, expansive windows, a dramatic floating staircase, and seamless indoor-outdoor spaces designed for everyday family life and entertaining.

From a modest single-storey house to a beautifully reimagined family home in Burnaby.

To create the space this family needed, our team removed the existing roof and built an entirely new second floor — nearly doubling the home’s livable square footage.

Inside, every detail was transformed. The new kitchen now anchors the main floor with custom cabinetry, integrated appliances, and a layout that flows seamlessly into the living area. A statement fireplace finished in cultured stone and stucco adds warmth and character, while glass railings and a modern open staircase bring lightness and architectural impact.

The new upper level provides the extra room this family needed for the next chapter — designed for comfort, functionality, and everyday living.
