The high water and ice breakup of 2019 damaged so many properties, this boathouse on Lake Rosseau took a direct hit. The ice snapped the exterior walls in half, moved the walls off their supports and the decking floated away.
The only support this structure had was from a boat lift.
We were able to support the structure, cut out and replace the damaged walls, replace the decking and siding, saving another Muskoka boathouse.
Not bad for a Monday!

Saving a Muskoka Legacy!
The flooding of 2019 destroyed this old Muskoka boathouse and its docks.
When we were asked "could we save the boathouse" I thought sure we can but it would be easier to rebuild it.
Our customer explained this is the oldest boathouse on Lake Muskoka, it was built back in the 1870's and is all original,
all the wood was milled from trees off the island and they wanted everything to remain as it was.
So we went to work and established a plan to reinforce the structure as the walls were separating and it was falling apart.
The building wasn't stable as it was built with old square nails that were letting go so we added bracing and made an inner frame to carry the load.
Once lifted we had to surgically replace the cribs logs, cribbing and beams. There were 8 cribs and 4 docks so this took a few weeks to complete.
This old Muskoka beauty is ready for another 125 years
and our customer is very pleased with the end result
We were honored to be offered this opportunity to save a Muskoka icon.
