🏆 1st Place at the Ontario Tree Climbing Competition! 🌳

We’re incredibly proud to congratulate our own Hannah on taking 1st place at the Ontario Tree Climbing Competition this weekend at the Niagara Botanical Gardens!

Hannah is a key member of the Elite Tree Care team. As a Production Arborist, she works hands-on in all aspects of tree care, while also sharing her knowledge and experience with our clients as a Sales Arborist and Consultant. Beyond Elite, Hannah serves on the ISA Ontario Board of Directors, helping support and advance the arboriculture industry across the province.

Winning the OTCC is a huge accomplishment and a reflection of the skill, dedication and professionalism Hannah brings to her work every day.

Next stop: Tournai, Belgium 🇧🇪, where Hannah will represent Ontario at the International Tree Climbing Championship! 🌎🌳

Congratulations, Hannah! The entire Elite Tree Care team is incredibly proud of you. Best of luck at the ITCC — we’ll all be cheering you on! 👏🏆

Another reminder of the force behind last week’s storm. 🌳💨

Two mature mulberry trees with significant structural failures following the high winds. We’ve been working through storm-damaged trees across the city, prioritizing hazardous situations and making properties safe.

🌳 Storm Damage Update

This storm hit hard, leaving significant tree damage across the GTA.

Our crews are working through a very high volume of calls, prioritizing emergencies and immediate hazards first, followed by fallen limbs, branches and other lower-risk storm damage.

A huge thank you to our existing clients whose scheduled work has been postponed while we respond to these emergencies. We truly appreciate your patience and understanding.

Long days for our crews, but we’re working hard to get to everyone as quickly and safely as possible. 💪🌳

One year later… 🌳

We stopped back to check on a landscape installation we completed last spring, and this is exactly what we hope to see.

The Black Cedar privacy hedge has established beautifully, the crabapples have put on excellent new growth, and the hemlocks are thriving despite being planted beneath a mature tree canopy.

Successful tree planting isn’t just about what goes in the ground on day one.

It’s about:
✔️ Investing in high-quality nursery stock.
✔️ Planting at the proper depth with correct root flare exposure.
✔️ Preparing the soil appropriately.
✔️ Applying mulch correctly (without creating mulch volcanoes).
✔️ And most importantly… providing consistent irrigation during the establishment period.

The first one to three years after planting are the most critical. Even the best trees can struggle without adequate water, while healthy, properly planted trees with good aftercare reward you with years of vigorous growth.

It’s always rewarding to revisit a project and see everything filling in exactly as planned. That’s the difference proper installation and aftercare can make.

Thank you to our clients for following the watering recommendations—it really shows.

🌿 Plant it right. Water it well. Enjoy it for decades.

Second weekend in a row cleaning up fallen trees! This Linden failed last night and caused some significant damage to the houses. Luckily nobody was hurt!

Thank you to all of our clients who are patiently waiting on us to complete their no emergency work 🙏 and to those waiting on quotations as well. We do our best to stay on schedule, but sometimes Mother Nature has other plans for us.

🌳 Give Your Trees the Support They Need This Season 🌳

Healthy trees start below the surface.

Deep root fertilization delivers essential nutrients directly into the root zone where your trees need them most—helping improve overall health, strength, and long-term vitality.

Benefits of Deep Root Fertilization:

✔ Improves tree health and vigor
✔ Encourages stronger root development
✔ Helps trees recover from stress caused by drought, construction, or poor soil conditions
✔ Enhances resistance to insects and disease
✔ Promotes fuller foliage and stronger seasonal growth
✔ Improves soil health and nutrient availability

Urban trees face constant stress from compacted soil, limited rooting space, and changing weather conditions. Deep root fertilization helps restore what the soil is often missing.

If your trees are looking stressed, thinning, or just not thriving like they should—this treatment can make a major difference.

When trees fail, it’s rarely “out of nowhere.”

This mature spruce failed during recent high winds, snapping at the trunk and causing significant damage to a vehicle and property.

Upon closer inspection, the failure point shows clear internal decay — a structural defect that weakens the tree from the inside out. The challenging part?
From the outside, trees like this can still appear relatively normal to the untrained eye.

👉 This is where a Certified Arborist inspection makes all the difference.

Early signs like:
• Subtle canopy thinning
• Deadwood accumulation
• Cracks or seams in the trunk
• Fungal fruiting bodies indicating decay

…can point to underlying structural issues long before failure occurs.

Regular inspections = risk management.
Not every hazardous tree looks obvious — but many give warnings if you know what to look for.

If you have large or mature trees on your property, especially near targets like homes, driveways, or walkways, it’s worth having them assessed.

🌿 Happy International Women’s Day

Arboriculture has long been a male-dominated industry, but anyone who spends time in this field knows how much women contribute to the knowledge, professionalism, and progress of our profession.

Some of the most skilled climbers, thoughtful arborists, and respected leaders in our industry are women who continue to raise the standard for what good tree care looks like.

Their influence has helped shape how we approach this work — with professionalism, attention to detail, and a deep respect for trees.

Today we recognize and appreciate the women who are helping move arboriculture forward and strengthening the future of our urban forests.
