Freeze-thaw cycles create slick surfaces, cold temps reduce flexibility and grip strength, and long hours in wet conditions increase strain. Stretch before demanding tasks, wear the right gloves and layers, stay hydrated, and change out of damp gear quickly. Watch for hidden hazards and black ice, and know the signs of hypothermia and frostbite.

The holidays are a busy, distracting time — which is why staying focused on safety is more important than ever. Incidents historically rise this time of year, so let’s be intentional on every job.

Plan your work, take your time, and remember: safety over speed. Use your PACE tools, two-minute rule, and three-way communication, especially when returning from days off. A quick safety stand-down can help keep the whole crew aligned.

If you see something unsafe, use your Stop Work Obligation immediately. Even if you feel sharp, others may be fatigued. Speaking up protects everyone.

Prioritize rest, hydration, and healthy habits during this busy season to make sure you show up to the jobsite ready for the day ahead.
