Celebrating the Women of The Operator – Cohort 1! 👷🏽‍♀️🎓

Every milestone represents more than a certificate. It represents opportunity, determination, and another step toward building a stronger, more inclusive skilled trades workforce.

At A Women’s Work Support Centre (AWW), we are proud to celebrate the women of our inaugural **The Operator Program** cohort.

And we’re already seeing results! Four women from this cohort have successfully secured employment, marking an important step in their journey toward meaningful careers in the skilled trades.

We extend our sincere appreciation to Minister Trevor Jones for sharing a special congratulatory message recognizing our participants and their achievements.

Through hands-on training, industry exposure, and employment pathways, The Operator is helping women gain the skills, confidence, and connections needed to pursue careers in Ontario’s construction and skilled trades sectors.

Congratulations to the graduates of The OPERATOR, Cohort 1! 🎓🏗️

Today we celebrate the first women to complete The OPERATOR, AWW's 12-week heavy equipment operator training program.

This summer, they climbed into the cab, took the controls, and learned to operate heavy equipment with skill and confidence. With mental health and wellness coaching behind them every step of the way, they showed up, pushed through, and proved that women belong in the operator's seat.

Several of our graduates are already working in the field, and we are proud to be connecting the rest with employers across the GTA.

Cohort 1, you made history as our very first class. Now go move some earth. 💛🖤

Some people hold a position. Others use that position to OPEN HUGE DOORS!

As Minister David Piccini begins his new chapter as Ontario’s Minister of Infrastructure, I want to simply say - THANK YOU!🙏🏽

During his time as Minister of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development, he believed in the work we were building at A Women’s Work Support Centre and, most importantly, in the women we serve.

Today, more than 300 women have been trained and 140+ have entered employment - women building careers, supporting their families and finding their place in industries where they have historically been underrepresented.

Minister Piccini showed up. He listened. He encouraged our women. He celebrated their successes. And his Ministry invested in making these opportunities possible.

These photos and videos capture just a few of those moments.

Minister, thank you for believing in our work and for helping us prove what is possible when women are given access, opportunity and a real pathway to employment.

And as you move to Infrastructure, somehow it feels fitting.

Because you’re not finished building yet. ❤️
