The ugly truth about pot lights.
Pot lights are a great feature to boost the attractiveness of your home. What‘s not so attractive is the installation process. The modern slim pot lights (a.k.a. recessed/down light) are a blessing in disguise for the installer because they can go anywhere due to the fact that they are the same thickness as the most commonly used ½ inch drywall. Where it get tricky is in the attic/untreated space. By code (building and electrical) you must maintain a vapour barrier to prevent thermal bridging. That’s the part rarely seen by homeowner. Be sure to check with your electrician to see if they’ve correctly installed a vapour barrier.
