In anticipation of my first Mother’s Day, I’ve found myself reflecting on this new chapter of life — and the quiet ways it has reshaped both me and the practice behind Studio Monaco.
Motherhood has been one of the most beautiful, humbling, and challenging experiences of my life, all while continuing to build and lead the studio. In many ways, it has deepened not only who I am personally, but how I approach our work creatively and professionally.
It has taught me:
⚪️ Resiliency — showing up each day, often on little sleep, with equal care for my son and for our clients and projects.
⚪️ Determination — pursuing both family and career dreams simultaneously, while striving to set an example of passion, discipline, and purpose.
⚪️ Empathy — understanding that perfection is rarely possible, and that grace, patience, and humanity matter just as much as excellence.
⚪️ Priority — learning that family comes first, always, and that meaningful work is built through balance, boundaries, and intentional time.
⚪️ Privacy — in an increasingly public and performative world, motherhood has reinforced the importance of protecting what is personal — both within my own life and within the homes and stories entrusted to our studio.
This season has changed me in ways I never expected, and for that, I’m endlessly grateful.
Thank you to my clients for your patience and husband 😂
I am so honoured to be apart of your stories and entrusted with your homes.
HMD 🤍
Ps. Thank you for your magic in capturing this journey
