Big things are happening at North Anna!

This week, the team achieved a major outage milestone with the successful replacement of a Reactor Coolant Pump Impeller. The accomplishment reflects the strong leadership and technical expertise of Dominion Energy station maintenance and operations teams, working in close collaboration with our team including Framatome, Day & Zimmermann rigging crews, and project oversight personnel. Together, we completed the work safely and efficiently, recovering a schedule delay and gaining valuable outage time through disciplined planning, seamless handoffs, and a commitment to problem-solving.

Progress continues on the new Westinghouse Rod Control System as testing advances and teams work through challenges exactly as intended in the commissioning process. Meanwhile, major components, including the 5A Feedwater Heater and B Inlet Waterbox Cover, have been removed to enable additional work in the condenser and hotwell areas.

Projects of this scale are only possible because of the people behind them. Thank you to everyone contributing to this outage for your focus on safety, teamwork, and excellence every day.

At North Anna Power Station, exceptional collaboration between the Aecon, Barnhart, and teams resulted in the successful removal and replacement of six 68,000-pound heat exchangers. Utilizing Optira 3D modeling to identify potential interferences in advance, the team executed each lift with precision, ensuring every move was completed safely and efficiently.

This accomplishment also marks an impressive milestone of 100,000 safe work hours on the outage. It reflects the extensive planning, teamwork, problem-solving, and unwavering commitment to safety demonstrated by everyone involved. From maneuvering major components to navigating thousands of pounds of material through some of the turbine building's most challenging and constrained areas, the team has continued to deliver exceptional results while maintaining a perfect safety record with zero first aid incidents.

With the new heat exchangers now installed and ready for welding, the team continues to make strong progress on the outage. Additional work remains ahead, including vertical feedwater heater and condenser replacements, but this milestone highlights the dedication, expertise, and safety-first culture driving the project forward.

Today marks the 25th anniversary of the tragedy of September 11, 2001, a day that deeply impacted our world. Each year, on this day we pause to remember those who died, and especially the 13 friends and colleagues who were employed by Aecon Engineering Services' legacy company, Washington Group International, now part of the Aecon family. The 13 colleagues worked on the 91st floor of the World Trade Center and will forever be remembered for the contributions they made to our lives. As we honor their memory, we reflect on the lasting impact they had on our organization and the importance of never forgetting the lives lost that day.

Nearly 800 people. One team. One shared commitment to safety.

Our Safety Week & Employee Appreciation Celebration brought together nearly 800 employees at the Columbia County Exhibition Center in Grovetown, GA—including vendors, project management and leadership teams from Aecon projects across the Savannah River Site project.

It was a day to remember that "Safety Starts with Me," and recognize the people behind the work, celebrate their dedication and accomplishments, and reinforce the safety culture that connects everything we do.

Most importantly, it was an opportunity to come together—to share a meal, recognize our teams, strengthen relationships and show our appreciation for the people who make our success possible every day.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and to all those who worked behind the scenes to make this celebration possible.
